Grandma's visit

The weekend before last was a busy one. Visits with family and friends, lots of time playing, a picnic in the park and some shopping!

Grandma Ruth (Matt's mom) came into town for a few days. The girls loved spending time with her. They especially loved trying to grab the glasses off her face! That game never gets old with those two.

Daddy is...

The best to cuddle up to when you are not feeling well. : (

How to...

Keep 10 month old twins occupied for a few minutes so their mom can get something done.

They love the iPad

Ten

I'm a little late on this... the girls turned 10 months last week. Here's an update on what's been going on the past month.

The basics
We didn't have a doc appt this month, so no updates on their stats. They are both probably around 20.5 pounds (Avery a little less, Morgan a little more). They wear size 3 diapers and size 9-12 months clothes. Morgan has 8 teeth, Avery has 4 teeth. They eat 3 meals a day plus a snack in the afternoon in addition to 5 bottles (anywhere from 3-6 oz each bottle). They usually take a long nap in the morning (2+ hours) and then catnaps in the afternoon (45 min), but they've been switching this up lately. At night, they go to sleep around 7:00 and wake up around 6:00 in the morning. Some mornings they are up earlier, but we don't get them out of bed until 6:00. They'll chat and laugh at each other and sometimes fall back asleep.

Avery - 10 months

Morgan - 10 months

On the go!
In the past month, the girls have become a lot more mobile. They want to be cruising or climbing or bouncing or crawling all the time. They both started "dancing" as I like to call it. They do a little booty shake/bounce when they get excited. They also shake their heads "no". I don't think they know what it means, but they find it very funny. They both love to practice walking. I'm not sure we're ready for them to be walking on their own yet!

Avery does not want the sticker on her at all

Loudmouths
It is rarely quiet at our house anymore. Avery has been trying out some new sounds. She used to blow raspberries constantly. That turned into "mmmmm", which turned into "ma-ma-ma". Now she is working on her laugh. She smiles really big and makes this noise like she can't breathe and is trying to suck in air. We have no idea where she picked this up. Morgan is by far the louder of the two these days. She yells all the time. And mostly she says I-I-I-I-I. If we say "E-I-E-I-O", that gets her going and she is screaming right back at us. Both girls say mama and dada, but I'm pretty sure they don't know what it means. They are starting to understand some words we say. Unfortunately, "No" is not one of those words.

Something new every day
It is so true that the girls are changing all the time. They seem to discover something new or figure out how to do something new every day. It's so fun to watch them play. Books are no longer just chew toys. They will sit and turn the pages like they are actually reading the book. Their favorite toys right now are their music table, blocks and a fake cell phone. But, really it's anything that makes noise or they can bang together to make noise. They watch each other and mimic what the other is doing. They always want the toy or pacifier the other one has, regardless of how many toys/pacifiers are sitting right in front of them. They are very entertaining!

Daddy tried to put the sticker back on

No luck, it's history now

Watching her sister take off her sticker and eat it

Yep, that didn't last long

Sticker free and happy

Thwarted again

For the second year in a row, the girls have messed up their Dad's plans for a birthday celebration.

Last year, we spent the weekend in the hospital hoping the girls would stay put for a few more weeks.

This year, they picked up roseola. Avery already has the rash, but Morgan is still in the fever stage. We don't want our babysitters (particularly cousin Grayson) to be around the girls. So, dinner reservations for tonight have been canceled. And we're holed up in the house with two cranky babies.

Matt picked up lots of good stuff to grill out this weekend. So, we'll still be eating well! :)

A little bit of Vegas

My friend Shannon got married in Vegas last year. Last weekend, Shannon and Lee renewed their vows at their new house and had a little party to celebrate.

We had a fun time - lots of great food, catching up with friends I don't get to see too often and of course, Matt loved the gambling. They brought in dealers and tables for the party. That kept Matt entertained for the night while I chatted with the girls. :)
