Barbie and a hike

Erin and I took the girls to see the Barbie movie. We all liked the movie. I'm sure there were a few parts the girls didn't understand. But it was fun to see the Barbie toys we have at home up on the big screen. We even had the dog that pooped (for Morgan of course!)

Later in the day, we took a hike at Gilbert Park and brought Milo with us. This was his first hike with us! He did great! Of course, he wanted everyone who walked by to give him attention!

Karate Tournament

Morgan went to the Nationals karate tournament today. She competed in Weapons (staff), Forms and Sparring. She got a 1st place in sparring!

All ready to go!

The kids are put in groups based on their belt level, gender and age. Morgan's belt level is 4th Gup. The belt levels go down as you go higher, so her next belt will be 3rd Gup. The group she was in was for 9-10 year olds in 4th to 2nd Gups. Some of the kids had to be just turned 9, because there were a couple of small kiddos in her group.

Lizzie was at the tournament, too!

During the opening ceremonies, they all did a form together.

Morgan's 1st sparring partner
She was tiny and Morgan kept hitting her too high, close to the neck/head and even got a warning!

Championship match - it was good match!
They were tied 2-2 and had a few "non-points", but Morgan pulled it out in the end!

Getting her medal

With her "gold" medal!

One of the judges took a selfie!

We celebrated with ice cream of course!

Avery was a good cheerleader for her sister
Dad treated her to Culver's before the tournament

Milo got a new 'do

Milo was getting a little scruffy, which is cute, but not the best for summer! So, he got a trim today. Here are some before, during and after pictures!

I think he has eyes in there somewhere!

All spiffed up! :)

Happy to be home!

He really wants to come upstairs

We don't let Milo upstairs much. He likes to eat socks and anything else he can find. So, we need to be really careful when we let him up (and close all the bedroom doors!)

Girl Detective

I didn't take many pictures this week. Boo!

Here are a few from Avery's Girl Scout camp, The Girl Detective. It was a hot week at camp! She stayed late on Thursday for the cookout and got eaten up by mosquitos! She really enjoyed the Girl Scout Camps this year.

Week wrap-up

Other than our visit with Matt's family, we had a pretty standard week. We had some fun pool time and a big game of keep-away.

The girls had volleyball practice with their friend Emily. And they sat outside and asked for a picture again - ha! I'm not sure why they like to do this every week.

Milo is not always the most cooperative. He likes to ring the bell to go outside and then he does this. Morgan volunteered to take him out to go to the bathroom and it was taking a while, so I looked out and saw him just rolling around in the grass and she was petting his belly!

This was the last week of summer camp at Avery Coonley. I can't say enough good things about this camp... it really is our favorite. The girls made a lot of new friends and were sad that it was over. Morgan loved her counselor, Ally, who has move up grades each year and continued to be their counselor. Hoping next year she gets moved up to 6th!

Here is Avery ready for the last day... she has necklaces and bracelets... some she made and some made by her new camp friends. And of course, she is texting her friends on her watch before we leave. She's like a teenager-in-training.

And here is Morgan ready for her last day... she's sporting her Alex Morgan jersey in honor of the US Women's World Cup game tonight against Vietnam. We are all super excited for the World Cup to start!

We let the girls stay up and watch the USA vs. Vietnam game.

Morgan tried really hard to stay awake, but after a long week of camp she just couldn't hang til the end.
