Quarantine: Catching Up

Still trying to get caught up on the blog... seems like so much is going on these days!

The girls' school decided to go fully remote last minute and they were scrambling to get everything ready. The first week of school is going to include two 2-hour sessions in person to meet the teacher and get supplies. Then, the official first day of remote learning is September 8th.

We were able to hire a nanny to help with the girls while Matt and I work and they need to be doing remote learning. Fingers crossed this all goes well!

Matt's birthday present (the Blackstone griddle) has STILL not arrived. The customer service for this company is terrible. The first shipment we got only included one part of the order. So, I called. The second shipment came about a month later and instead of including a griddle and a griddle cover, it contained two griddle covers! It's been a mess to deal with, but supposedly an actual griddle will be delivered to us in a week or so. Not holding my breath.

Morgan is loving soccer! They had a scrimmage on Saturday and the weather was perfect!

We've been working on decorating the girls' rooms now that they aren't sharing anymore. Only took us like six months to start doing this! Avery's room is full or pink, purple and unicorns. Morgan's room is Spirit Riding Free. Avery really wanted an egg chair for her room, so we got her this. She LOVES it!

Quarantine: Bridging to Brownies

In true quarantine fashion, the girls bridged from Daisies to Brownies outside, six feet apart from their friends.

Quarantine: Another vacay

We decided to take another quick vacation before the crazy school year started. We were able to find a house in New Buffalo from a Tuesday through Sunday in the old Grand Beach area. The owner of the house was so awesome and everything was great! The house had a pool and hot tub, two golf carts and plenty of space for the four of us. I spent some time here doing phone interviews with nanny candidates. We had someone lined up, but she flaked out a few days after accepting our offer. Long story, but needless to say, the nanny finding process is exhausting.

This was in the garage.
Morgan asked if the rest of the deer was on the other side of the wall.

It didn't take this girl long to get changed and jump in the pool

And of course, she had to check out the hot tub

First of many golf cart rides

We also made three trips to Oink's for ice cream

Play time at the park

We made it back to the new Grand Beach side
where we normally stay to go to the lookout.

Rainbows the Unicorn made an appearance

We went on nightly golf cart rides searching for deer. We saw so many!

We went to Captain Mike's and the girl drove go-karts!

They didn't go very fast, but it was still fun!

We also played putt-putt

More deer sightings

This video shows how far Avery has come along with her swimming. She actually swam across the pool without holding her nose. Of course, she paused to get air a few times, but she's really doing well.

Hilarious picture (check out the pouting Avery on the right)

Buried in the sand

There was a beach not too far from the house
that we could actually go down to and hang out.
All the others were under water.

The girls thought this was hilarious -
called themselves cinnamon donuts.

They would jump in the lake and then come back and roll in the sand

Climbing rocks at the beach

Michigan sunsets are amazing!

More deer sightings

Morgan stacking rocks in the sand

A cloudy sunset, but still pretty

This girl is too much!

Lots of construction on the beach

Another trip to Oink's

Quarantine: Soccer and Butterflies

Morgan started her soccer league. It looks a little different this year. They have practices on Monday nights and scrimmages on Saturday mornings. The scrimmages are just with their own team, so they split them up each week into "teams". She's super excited to be playing!

And in other random pictures from my phone, the girls saw this butterfly and wanted me to take a picture.

Quarantine: Family BBQ

We had everyone over for a BBQ, complete with massive water balloon fight!

Avery decided to dress like a cheerleader for the occasion

The day ended off with a rainbow!

Quarantine: Happy Birthday Daddy!

We celebrated Matt's birthday at home with a small cake and some presents. The girls picked out one present and I picked out another (hint - he's getting something he loved from our vacation house - a Blackstone Griddle - if it ever arrives!)

Someone was really excited about this gift! :)

The girls thought Daddy would LOVE a lego set that they could all do together! Ha! They had to immediately open it and do one of the bags.
