Glow Lunch for Leap Day

The school held a glow lunch for Leap Day and the kids had a blast! They gave all the kids glow sticks and had a multi-color disco ball and music playing! The kids were all singing along to the songs. I was there supervising lunch/recess because it was a Thursday.

It's hard to tell, but they are singing along to Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA.

Here's a picture of Avery with her friends Maebel and Rachel.

I think she's feeling better!

Someone grabbed my phone and took some selfies... ha!

HAIL!

So, the weather went from nice to crappy again... and we had some pretty severe weather Tuesday night! Avery was at rehearsal and while I was waiting in the parking lot for her to come out, the tornado sirens went off. So, I went into the building and we all hung out in the stairwell until the sirens stopped. Then, we came home and it hailed! It was battering our house and the windows... so crazy! Milo was really confused!

Winner winner chicken dinner!

Morgan got selected again for the all school assembly game show! And she won again! She got a gift card to Dunkin Donuts and a Whittier water bottle!

Shark Tank

Avery's gifted class is making a product "Shark Tank" style. They had to come up with a product that cost less than $10 to make and then develop a business plan and sales presentation. The product had to be something that solved a school type problem. So, she made a magnetic pencil case that sticks to the side of your desk.

Here she is with her prototype.

She didn't get to present her sales pitch yet because she was sick on Tuesday and didn't go to school. They go to Gifted on Tuesdays, so she'll present next week.

Awww, love Sofie!

Sofie was Dog of the Week at Dogtopia this past week! They even put a little sash and crown on her! She's been having so many health issues lately, poor thing! So, hopefully, she enjoyed the extra attention this week! :)

Basketball game

Morgan's team played against the 6th grade girls from Whittier on Sunday. The 6th grade girls also recruited a girl from Morgan's soccer team that was really good! The game was close at halftime. But, in the second half, the other team just did amazing. So, Morgan's team ended up losing by 4 points. It was a tough game. Morgan goes back and forth on liking basketball. We'll see how she feels at the end of season.

Here she is getting ready to drive to the basket.

And she attempted a shot, but it just missed.

Under the weather

Avery woke up on Saturday not feeling well. She had a cold, sore throat and a low fever. You know something is up when she camps out on the couch in the living room. Normally, she's upstairs in her room on her iPad calling with friends or playing games or doing gymnastics in the basement. But, none of that was happening on Saturday. :(

She spent the next three days on the couch not feeling well. She finally started feeling better Tuesday afternoon. But, still has a lingering cough she can't kick. Ugh.

Sick, but still smiling!

Popcorn

Have I mentioned how much Morgan LOVES popcorn??? Well, she got this popcorn set for Christmas that has different flavors to put on the popcorn. So, we decided to do some taste testing the other night. I think we all liked the butter salt flavor the best. The bacon cheddar was good, too! There were also sprinkles and cinnamon sugar.

From 70 to 20 and snow in one day... ugh!

It was a gorgeous 70 degrees... and then it wasn't! We were not happy. But this guy was! He thinks snow is food, so he was eating up the backyard!

McTeacher Night

The PTA held a fundraiser at McDonald's called McTeacher night. The teachers all worked the registers and took orders. They walked around with cookies and took pictures with the kids. We stopped by for a little snack before dropping Avery off at rehearsal and Morgan off at basketball practice.

Here the girls are with Morgan's teacher, Mrs. Lyons.

Goodbye to Blue

Morgan's class pet, leopard gecko named Blue, passed away and all the kids were really sad. Blue had been sick for a while and they were trying to make him better. He was on special medications, but in the end it just didn't work. Mrs. Lyons announced to the class that Blue had died and the kids all drew pictures and made cards. It was really sweet!

Basketball... and a jammed finger

Morgan had a basketball game on Sunday. Her team played against Lynnea's team (a girl on her soccer team). It was a tough match. Lynnea is really good and got most of her team's points. Morgan ended up jamming her finger and then hit it again, so she came out of the game. She said it really hurt and sat out for a while. I told her she was going to get lots of jammed fingers... it's like a rite of passage in basketball! She did suck it up and got back on the court, but their team lost 11-7. These games are not high scoring, that's for sure!

After the game, we got a picture with her friend Lynnea.

2012 vs 2013

Today's soccer match was Morgan's team (2012 Select) vs another Roadrunners team (2013 Select). They practice together a couple times a week, so they have "played" each other quite a bit. The 2013 Select team is really good, so they are playing up in Morgan's league. That is why their teams played each other. It was a great match! Morgan's team ended up winning 1-0 on a goal by Mina and an assist from Morgan!

After the game, they took a "team" picture of all the girls together!

Make-up and Hair Party

Avery's dance school had an event to teach the girls on the team (and their moms) how to do hair and make-up for the competitions. She did her own make-up and I did her hair. The big change this year was they decided to do a middle part for the buns instead of the traditional side part. I think it's easier to do the middle part, so I'm all for that change!

She's still figuring out the eye liner. She came home and practiced some more!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! We had some fun treats to help celebrate the special day!

We took the girls out for dinner to Neat and then had brownie sundaes at a neighbor's house to celebrate their daughter's birthday.

Go Chiefs

Of course, the girls are Chiefs fans... go Taylor's boyfriend - ha! We watched the Super Bowl at home and made lots of tasty treats! The girls have watched a lot more football this year!

Morgan made a t-shirt... :)

Avery kept track of the squares for us!

Milo may have been overserved... he is SUCH a baby!

Basketball

Morgan scored a point at her basketball game this week! She was so excited! She got fouled and they were in the bonus, so she got to shoot a free throw. She made the first one, but missed the second one. The game was really close and a nail biter until the end! They ended up winning 14-12. :)

She's in the mess of girls down there somewhere...

Getting ready for her big free throw shot...

Not sure about this form - ha! - but it worked for her!

A very expensive pair of socks

What are these, you might ask???

Well, these are the socks that Milo decided to eat off Avery's floor. She told us he must have eaten the socks because she knew they were on her floor and then they were gone! He ended up getting sick a few days later and the vet wanted to see us immediately.

The x-rays showed there was at least one sock in Milo's tummy, and possibly one in his intestines. The one in his tummy could come out by endoscopy, but the one in the intestines would require major surgery to cut open his tummy and intestines to take out the sock. I left him at the vet and they were going to let me know what they found.

We really lucked out because both of the socks were still stuck in his stomach, so they were able to get them out with the endoscopy! No major surgery! He did spend the rest of the day really out of it from the anesthesia. He would just whine non-stop. Then, he would get up and just stand in the middle of the room so confused. :(

Luckily, he bounced back pretty fast and was feeling much better the next day!

Next up... a haircut!

Basketball... with a cheering section!

Morgan had another basketball game on Sunday. Since everyone was in town for Papa's birthday, they all came to cheer Morgan on at her game! She did great and her team won!

Happy Birthday Papa!

My parents came up for my Dad's birthday this past weekend. The girls helped Mama make a super fun cake for Papa. We made four layers of different colors and put candy in the middle! The cake was delicious and the party was fun! Morgan had to leave early because she wasn't feeling well. :(
