Willy Wonka

Avery auditioned for Willy Wonka at the Academy of Music and Art. She was really excited to get called back for three different roles. The call backs were on Monday night and ended up going late. She was exhausted afterwards, but she could barely fall asleep hoping they would send out the cast list that night. They had a hard time deciding who would get which role and they didn't send out the cast list until almost midnight. We were asleep! :) But, she got the role of Augustus Gloop, one of the golden ticket winners. That wasn't her top choice of role, but she's still really excited to be a part of the show! Most of the girls involved are 5th and 6th graders and they seem like a really fun group.

First day of school

After a two day delay, school started!

Um, Avery being goofy! (Once I get the family pictures back from my brother, you may see this same look again - ha!)

And this is how I found Morgan about 30 minutes after she got home... crashed out watching her iPad! School is hard work! :)

Dance season starts

Avery started her new dance season this week! She's taking Acro and Jazz and then has one rehearsal a week for her Jazz team.

Poor Milo!

Milo had some sort of allergic reaction and ended up with red, swollen eyes, paws, gums, chin, etc. We think it was to the yard company spraying something in the yard and me not waiting long enough before taking Milo outside. Who knows. But, he was in sad shape!

We took him to the vet and he got a shot and some medicine and creams to get him fixed up!

And then this is how he spent the next few days... crashed out! Poor guy! (Also, he LOVES the air mattress! When that is set up, that's where you'll find him!)

Delayed

Well, the weather had other ideas about the start of school... we got delayed two days due to the extreme heat. Most of the elementary schools don't have air conditioning, so the kids would have been miserable! Next summer, they are updating the electric and adding AC to the schools!

Just a few more days until school starts! The girls had supply drop off / meet your teacher at school Monday afternoon.

Chicago Fire Game

Morgan went to a Chicago Fire soccer camp this summer and they give participants a free ticket. Family members can get discounted tickets to join them at the game. The kids and one parent get to go out on the field, meet Sparky, get their face painted and get autographs signed. Morgan was super excited for all of this and for her first MLS game!
