Got some great Mother's Day gifts!

This is what was causing our fridge door to not close properly!
Called the GE repair guys to the house to find this out - oops!

Girls fell asleep on a walk holding hands

Morgan loves the park near our house

Avery loves picking "flowers" (dandelions)

After quite a few hours... the kitchen is complete!
We had a nice Memorial Day weekend with a visit from my parents and a BBQ with Erin and Ross and Brett and Sandi. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins and getting spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa!

As for daycare... Avery has made a total 180 and is really enjoying going to daycare. Morgan does well until late afternoon when other parents come to pick their kiddos up. She gets upset when we aren't there and other kids get to leave before her. Apparently, she tries to leave with other parents. The morning drop-off is getting easier for me with less meltdowns as well. :)

Daycare

As I mentioned, we had to make a change in child care for the girls when we moved to Downers Grove. We started at a daycare this past Monday. To say it's been tough on Avery is an understatement.  It's heartbreaking for me to have to leave her when she's so upset every morning. They tell me she cries off and on all day long. : (  But, they say not to worry because she will adjust. Morgan is adjusting much better and loves playing with all the toys.

The first day, the girls stuck close together when I dropped them off. They even tried to go down the slide together.

They started off in the "climber" as it's called, a big play area similar to what you might see at a McDonald's or something. I stuck around until they went to their classroom for snack time. Avery seemed to fall in line pretty well with the other kids and sat nicely at the table. Morgan sat for about a millisecond and then climbed up on the table... twice. I was a little worried after that that she would be getting into a lot of trouble. But, I always get good reports on her.

Morgan decided to climb up on the table

Sitting nicely again

Today when I went to pick them up, Avery was hanging out in the front office with the lady that runs the facility and a few other ladies. All the other kids (including Morgan) were back in the classrooms. Turns out Avery was upset that the only teacher she likes so far, Sabrina, had left for the day and she needed some extra attention.

Tonight when we I was getting the girls ready for bed, Avery just wanted me to cuddle with her. Makes me so sad to put her through this. I really hope this transition speeds up!

We moved!

The week we moved was a crazy one! Started off with us all sharing the stomach flu... talk about terrible timing! I got it last and was just feeling better by the time we had to go to the closing (thank goodness!)

Ruth came to visit to help pack and clean up the condo. She had our refrigerator looking better than the day we moved into the condo! :)

Packing and moving is a little more difficult with 18-month old twins who love boxes! They especially loved taking rides on the dollies! :)

We finally made it to our close date and it went off so smoothly! We closed on our condo in the morning and our new house in the afternoon. Our lawyer is great and so organized!

We could not have made it through the move without the help of my parents. My Dad probably needs a 3 week vacation to recover from all of the help he gave us. He and Matt took multiple loads of stuff out to the new house and he put up all of the blinds in our new house! My Dad fixed things, put things together, took things apart, carted stuff from one place to another... whatever we needed, he did! And my mom took great care of the girls while we were busy moving. Avery got spoiled by Grandma and Morgan loved playing with Grayson's toys!

We are loving our new house and all the space! We have most of the boxes unpacked and are getting settled into our new routine. We've already met a few of our neighbors. Actually, my mom has met more of them, because she's taken the girls for walks and people are so friendly! :)

Cubs win!

Back before we had to move our close date up two weeks, we had made plans with some friends to go to the Cubs v. Cards game on Sat, May 3rd. After the close date got moved, this became another event in what was quite a busy week! Luckily, it was worth it to catch up with good friends and see the Cubs win. Matt couldn't go, so I brought Erin instead. :)

Cousins

The girls got to hang out with cousin Grayson while we were moving. We put them in the tub together. The girls have never taken a bubble bath before and Avery just couldn't figure out the bubbles. She kept looking at her hands and trying to wipe them off. She did try to eat them once!

Mary's last day

With our move to the 'burbs, we had to say good-bye to the girls' nanny, Mary. She lives in the city and it just didn't make sense for her to commute out to Downers Grove. We are really sad that she is no longer with us and the girls. She has been such a big part of their lives the past 16 months. It's hard because they are too young to understand or for us to explain why they no longer see her.
