B-ball and bowling

Tonight, our company had an old guys vs. young guys basketball game at a nearby gym. Guess which team Matt was on... yep, the old guys. His team was surprisingly good! At the end of the first game, Matt drove in for a basket (aka "a spectacular circus shot that would have made Lebron James proud" if you're asking him) to tie the game up. There was no overtime, so they left it at that. I think had they kept going, the old guys would have taken it. But, they probably didn't want to play much longer! They all looked a little worse for wear. : )

Afterwards, we went to the "Q Room"... which is the basement of a condo building that one of our coworkers lives in. The place was really cool! It had 4 pool tables, a putting area, darts, ping pong, foosball, tvs and a two lane bowling alley! We ordered pizzas and hung out there. Matt and I even bowled a few games. I bowled awful! Matt bowled really well. I owe him $5. I also owe our neighbor John $10 because I thought I could beat him... but, was sadly very wrong. Good times!

Matt and John were trying to figure out a way we could buy a condo in the building so we could go hang out there every night. We'd probably be bowling there a lot. : )

Ploth-zero-w

I think I may be looking at too many numbers these days! Twice on the phone today I had to spell out my last name. The first time I spelled it, when I got to the second "o", I said "zero". Really?!? There is not a "zero" in my last name... where is that coming from??? The woman I was talking to just started laughing. I tried to play it off and said I was reading something else while I was talking to her. Then, later, I was spelling my name for the TW helpdesk and when I got to the "o", I almost did it again! I caught myself and stuttered out the "o". Ugh. TGIF.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Matt and I went to Morton's to celebrate Valentine's Day last night. We had SO much great food! Morton's takes pictures of you and gives you a printout in a card to take home. : )

It's not a gun

For my Dad's birthday, we got him an iPad. It was actually for my mom, too... because ever since my Mom get her iPad for Christmas, my Dad has been using it, too. But, we wanted to throw him off a little, so I wrapped it up in the box our aquarium lights came in. I told him that he might be getting a gun. : )

I got him an Obama birthday card

What is in this box???

Aha... it's an iPad!
Hopefully, he wasn't too disappointed that it wasn't a gun! Happy Birthday Dad!

My how she's grown!

Back when Erin and Ross got Sofie in October, she was just a wee little thing...

But now, she weighs over 30 pounds and is getting really big!

Welcome back DVR!!!

I'm so excited to have cable again... and get the DVR back up and running!

The cable company gave me an appt time frame of 11a to 2p today. I thought I would work in the office until about 10:30 and then head home to wait for the cable guy. About 10:15a, I get a call from the Skybridge doorman... someone is hear to see you from the cable company. Wow, the dude was really early! That almost never happens. Late = yes. Early = no. I told him to hang on, I'd be home in a few minutes.

I high-tailed it out of work and practically ran the seven-tenths of a mile home. I totally didn't want the guy to leave and come back later. My throat actually hurt from breathing in that arctic air. Ugh.

Now, Matt can resume his favorite spot on the couch and all will be right with the world again. : )

Fragile???

Matt ordered new lights for the aquarium and they showed up yesterday...

So much for that "FRAGILE" sticker... looks like someone dropped it and tried to rip it open! Geesh! Luckily, they packed the lights in some serious insulation and they worked. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure Matt would have been quite unhappy!

Oh, by the way, it is freaking COLD outside!!! The temperature was minus 3 this morning... the feels like temp was minus 17 degrees! Awesome weather to walk to work in... stupid Wacker drive construction. It's days like today that I miss the bus.

And as an extra bonus today, I will be walking to and from work twice. The cable guys are coming to (hopefully!) get our cable up and running again. I miss the DVR like crazy! Watching shows without being able to fast forward through the commercials is so annoying.

Saturday

There's a lot of snow out there!

But the streets are clear and the sidewalks are cleaned off enough to walk on. When this stuff melts, it's going to be messy!

We went to Holiday Grill and Bar for brunch this morning. Check out the special on Mondays = Malort shots for $1. I'm sure Clint would be happy to hear about that!

Ever since the storm, our cable has been out in the living room. The cable in the bedroom is iffy, at best. According to the error, there are too may cables hooked up to the same spot in our condo building. This happened to us before. Last time, it was freaky because we'd be watching tv and the channel would just switch on it's own. Now, we aren't even getting a picture. We've already watched down the DVR, now it's on to DVDs!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

Although he says he's not celebrating any more birthdays...

we're planning a fun time next weekend when he comes up to Chicago!

Hope you had an awesome day!

Snow Day!

We ventured out yesterday in the snow to meet up with Clint for lunch at Haymarket.

They were open and had a special "blizzard menu"... i.e., a totally scaled back menu since they couldn't get anyone in to fix their stove. The place was more crowded than they expected and the two servers were a little overwhelmed. The owner was there and he handed out free samples to everyone. Score!

What better way to spend a snow day!
Our "lunch" pretty much ruined me for the rest of the day. I think we got home around 4pm. And all I wanted to do was take a nap after that! It's a very good thing my volleyball game was cancelled.

On a complete side note, here is my brother's car. Well, at least he says it's his. I really can't tell! I stole this from his FB page because I thought it was pretty funny. Gotta love street parking!

Not going anywhere soon, I hope!

Hopefully, this is the last of it!

What a difference an hour makes... the blizzard is back!

Rush Hour

Not too many cars are on the road! Well, except for all those abandoned cars on Lake Shore Drive. It's still closed. I can't believe my brother made it home last night in that mess. He said he couldn't see anything and just followed right behind a bus. He's lucky!

Our office is closed today, so we're working from our living room in our pj's. Love it!

The snow has stopped for now, but the winds are still crazy. The forecast says we're supposed to get about 1 to 4 more inches before noon. And then the big freeze is coming... super cold temps.

Blizzard

Yep, it's definitely a white out here. It's nuts!

Lucky for us, people canceled their reservations at Girl and the Goat, so we jumped on it and made reservations for dinner tonight. Love that place!

We're now sitting in our warm house in a food coma listening to the wind whip against our windows watching the Biggest Loser. I think we made it home just in time. It looks like it just got worse out there! It is actually thundering and lightning! I don't think I've ever seen lightning during a snow storm!

At dinner at Girl and the Goat

Matt walking home from dinner

Are you ready Chicago???

Everyone is stocking up for the big storm! I ran to the store after work last night really fast and it was a zoo! I think meat was the first thing everyone grabbed, because the selection was pretty awful.

I picked up a few things and got in the mega-line for the self checkouts. I guess Matt and I are lucky that we live above a grocery store. As long as someone shows up to work there, we can run down and grab something to eat. And we don't even have to go outside to do it! There is a hallway under our building that leads to the underground parking lot of Dominicks. Pretty nifty. I have used it before to bring a cart back to our condo when I couldn't carry everything I bought. The carts won't work once you get past the parking lot because of some security device that locks up the wheel, but they work six floors up in our building. ; )

I have a hair appt tonight up in Lincoln Park. Normally, I drive there. But, I'm thinking today I will take public transport instead. I don't want any part of being on the roads if it's going to be dumping snow on us!
