Last Day of 5th Grade
I feel like 5th grade just flew by! Here we are at the last day already! The girls filled out their boards... wonder how long they'll let me keep this tradition up?!?
Milo posed so nicely!
After school, they had a fun fair for the kids with popsicles, bouncy houses, face painting and a reptile show! We've seen the show a few times, so we skipped that this year. Morgan and her friend Lizzie got puppy paws on their arms.
Avery headed to a friend's house for a playdate, so I took Morgan to the pool to kick off the summer! It was chilly, but the water was warm enough to swim. She practiced her laps to see how she would do for the swim team tryouts. Then, she made her first jump of the year off the diving board!

5th Grade Cereal Box Project
The 5th grade collected cereal boxes to donate to the FISH charity. They've done this for the past few years. Before donating the cereal, they line all the boxes up throughout the school like dominoes. So fun!
Here they are taking the boxes out to the vans to donate.
Memorial Day - more baseball
On Monday, we went back to Randall Park to play a little tennis and some softball.
Grayson had his championship baseball game, so we had to go cheer him on! Avery has been logging a lot of time reading to get a jump start on the summer reading program. So, she read in the car on the way!
The game was another close one! I think they were down 10-4 at the bottom of the last inning and the coaches were already discussing the next game (they had to lose twice since the tournament was double elimination). So, everyone was preparing to play this same team again. But, as they had down the other two games, they got some runs and tied it up! Grayson's team had 2 outs and the winning run on second base and Grayson was up to bat. Talk about nerve-racking! Grayson hit two fouls, so he had two strikes. Then, he just ripped it out over 1st base into left field and that was the end of it... his teammate scored and the boys went crazy! They were so excited to pull from behind and win again! They even got these massive rings for winning!

Happy birthday Calvin
We celebrated Calvin's birthday on Sunday at his house with a pool party! The weather was pretty bad earlier in the day, so they postponed the lunch to dinner and we headed over in the afternoon. We lucked out that the sun actually came out and the kids got to swim! A fun time was had by all... especially the birthday boy!
At one point, the tornado sirens went off by Brett's house. We could see the ominous clouds moving by, but it only rained a little bit by us. On the way home, we saw multiple rainbows!

Kicking off Memorial Day Weekend
We started off Saturday playing tennis at Randall Park. Here is a tree over by Randall Park... cicadas everywhere!
Avery got to pick our lunch spot and chose Portillo's... always a favorite!
Then, we met up with my parents and the Wilkens at Grayson's baseball game. He was in a tournament in Woodridge. His team came from behind in an exciting finish to win the game!
So, of course, we wanted to catch his next game later that night. The girls and I went for that one. A few pictures before the game... Avery was posing people (for some reason - ha!)
Another exciting finish from their team, they came from behind again and won the game! After this, everyone decided that Avery and Morgan were the lucky charms! :)

Field Day
The kids had Field Day on Friday. They kicked it off with a pizza lunch outside, then it poured! So, field day was delayed for about 30 minutes. I volunteered to help out and I was on the "Drip-Drop" station. They had to take a sponge and fill a bucket with water from another bucket full of water in a relay. The kids were really competitive at this game and we went through A LOT of water. We were constantly filling the buckets up! I mostly only have pictures from Morgan's class because her teacher posted them.
Here they are after field day was over... it's hard to tell, but they are both soaked! They dumped water on each other at the stations where there was water (like mine and the water balloon station).
Safety Patrol Field Trip
For the kids that are part of the Safety Patrol got to go on the annual field trip to the zoo. Both Avery and Morgan are part of Safety Patrol, so I said I would chaperone. It was a gorgeous hot day!
Heading in to see the monkeys
Waiting for ice cream, the kids played catch. One of the girls had brought upside-down glasses, so they took turns wearing them. Here's Morgan trying to catch the ball with the glasses on. It was pretty funny to watch them!
There is a ferris wheel at the zoo now, so of course the kids wanted to ride it.
