Field Day

Thursday was Field Day at school. The weather was a little better than yesterday at the zoo. Each grade has a different shirt to wear. 6th grade was this purple heather shirt.

Field Day Hair!

Poor Morgan was dealing with a very sore mouth because of the new braces. Her whole right side of her mouth was super swollen! Hoping it gets better soon!

Field Day

The kids had Field Day on Friday. They kicked it off with a pizza lunch outside, then it poured! So, field day was delayed for about 30 minutes. I volunteered to help out and I was on the "Drip-Drop" station. They had to take a sponge and fill a bucket with water from another bucket full of water in a relay. The kids were really competitive at this game and we went through A LOT of water. We were constantly filling the buckets up! I mostly only have pictures from Morgan's class because her teacher posted them.

Here they are after field day was over... it's hard to tell, but they are both soaked! They dumped water on each other at the stations where there was water (like mine and the water balloon station).

Field Day

At the end of the school year, the girls' school has Field Day. I volunteered to help with the intermediate grades in the afternoon. I was paired up with a dad of a friend of the girls and we were at the water balloon station. We had instructions for what the kids were supposed to do, which was basically a relay type race where they ended up smashing water balloons on their heads. We improvised a bit with other games as we had time, but I think the kids had a blast. Most just wanted to use up all the balloons for a giant water balloon fight, but only the lucky last class of the day got to do that!

4th grade had lime green shirts

It was like 1,000 degrees and sunny, so the kids were burning up! We had squirt guns and the PE teacher ran around spraying kids with water to cool them off. They were soaked with water and sweat by the end of the day!

At the end, the two 6th grade classes have a tug of war battle as the rest of the school cheers them on. You can see the 4th graders in their lime green sitting together.

And yes, that is Spider Man officiating the tug of war game! One class had less people and lost the first round, so Spider Man helped them out in the second round and they won! The tie breaker was without Spider Man, so they lost again.

Such a fun day for the kiddos! We came home and cooled off while Avery had her piano lesson. Then, we went to the pool for about an hour to relax before dinner. Here's Morgan jumping off the diving board.
