Trick or Treating

The girls went trick-or-treating with their friends. Avery and Maebel were dressed as construction workers. Morgan and Katherine were Cubs players. They all trick-or-treated in our neighborhood for a bit, then met up with their friends at Randall for more trick-or-treating. They got lots of candy! :)

Zoomie Champ

Milo was sporting his Halloween costume for a few minutes! 

He was not a fan. He jumped up on the couch and pouted. Matt came out and he just sat like this like "please help me, Dad!" Later, he did learn how to bite it off!

Fun at soccer!

Morgan's soccer team had practice the day before Halloween and a bunch of girls dressed up. She and her friend Abby dressed up as refs! She made the Roadrunners Instagram/Facebook page! :)

Another Spartan win! (Herrick vs Butler 34-7)

Morgan's team played against Butler on Thursday night. I remembered to take a few more pictures this game!

More Halloween Dances

Avery's other two classes had Halloween dances this week, too!

We were "BOO"'ed!!!

A friend of Avery and Morgan's (Maebel) boo-ed them on Wednesday! They were excited to see the treats when they got home from their activities!

I grabbed some Crumbl cookies for the girls for an after school treat! Yum!

Double header - Spartans win and Roadrunners tie

Morgan was a busy girl on Tuesday night! She had a Herrick basketball game after school and then we headed straight to Schaumburg for her soccer game!

Herrick vs Lisle 34-4

The basketball game started off a little more competitive this time! At halftime, the score was only 10-4. Morgan had made a lay-up and a 3-pointer! After halftime, the other team deflated and never scored again. I didn't take any pictures during the game, so I made Morgan take one after the game. She already had her shoes off! :)

Roadrunners vs Gremio 0-0

Gremio is in 1st place in the bracket and are undefeated. Morgan's team is in 2nd place. We haven't played this team yet this season and our last two games are against them (just the way the schedule worked out, I guess!) We can't end up 1st in the league because we have 2 losses and a tie, so we can't recoup the points even if we would have beaten Gremio twice. It was an aggressive game and Morgan's team played really well. We took a lot of shots at goal, but just couldn't get one in! Again, I was not good at taking pictures... this is the only one I got.

Another Spartan win (Herrick vs Lakeview 34-2)

Morgan's team played Monday night against Lakeview at home. Her team dominated again. I would have thought some of these schools would have a bigger group of girls that play basketball, but we're just not seeing that yet. It's not super fun for the girls because they can't even play to their full ability. Their coach gets mad if they do because he doesn't like blowing out the opponents. I'm sure we will see some tougher competition starting with the regionals.

Hip Hop Halloween

Avery's dance school is doing short Halloween dances at the end of each class this week. On Monday night, she had her Hip Hop class and a cute little dance!

Six Flags - Fright Fest

Morgan's friend Abby celebrated her birthday at Six Flags on Sunday and invited Morgan and two other girls along. It's also Fright Fest at Six Flags! Morgan was really nervous about scary costumes and getting chased by chain saws! :0

She had a blast, despite it being so crowded that they only go to ride four rides.

Halloween Window Painting

The girls went with Lizzie and Grace to paint windows downtown. It was a chilly morning! They said the paint wasn't sticking well to the windows this year, but it still turned out cute! :)

They finished off the morning with hot chocolate and treats!

13 year check-up

The girls had their 13 year old checkup on Wednesday morning. They are both doing great and growing like weeds!

The stats...

Avery is 5' 3 1/4" and weighs in at 99 pounds. She is in the 72nd percentile for height and 44th percentile for weight. Looks like she grew about 3 inches and gained about 7 pounds. She had been having issues with hair loss earlier this year (due to being such a picky eater!), but we've upped her protein and vitamin intake and she's doing great now! Lots of little baby hairs are growing back in, which drive her crazy! :)

Morgan is 5' 6 1/2" and weighs in at 115 pounds. She is in the 96th percentile for height and 72nd percentile for weight. Looks like she grew about 3 inches and gained about 23 pounds. Morgan has really put on a lot of muscle this year thanks to all her soccer and basketball practices!

They got the second round of HPV vaccine and a flu shot. And of course, they had to do the finger prick test to check hemoglobin levels for anemia. Morgan dreads this each year and ends up feeling silly after it's over because it's not as bad as she builds it up in her mind beforehand. I remind her each year about this fact, but it doesn't help! :)

The doctor talked a lot with them about mental health this year. They had to fill out the mental health checklist themselves this year, which also stressed Morgan out. I told her there were no wrong answers! The doctor asked them about school and friends and if they were having any issues.

Everything went well and we were out of there in 45 minutes! When I dropped the girls off at school, they were doing an intruder drill so we had to wait outside until the "all clear". At first we weren't sure what was going on and saw police walking through the school, but then Morgan remembered about the drill!

Spartans win! (Herrick vs Gower 32-9)

The middle school basketball team won another game! This time they played against Gower, which I think is in Willowbrook. Coach Cole was back this game. Morgan was a starter. Similar to the last two games, it was a blowout. The girls had to play off in the second half to let the other team have a chance to score and to not completely annihilate them. Their coach told them no fast break layups, no three-pointers, only taking mid range shots if they were open. Hopefully, when they actually play a competitive game, they won't be so used to playing down that they can't step it up!

Roadrunners win in the rain and cold!

Morgan's soccer team played Tuesday night in Schaumburg and it was raining and cold! This was the coldest night we've had so far this fall! We were bundled up and under umbrellas. It stopped raining around halftime, but it was still really windy and cold.

Morgan's team was playing against the LG Celtics, who they are basically tied with for 2nd place in their division right now. Last time they played each other, they tied 2-2. This game, the girls brought their best and didn't let the weather stop them! They ended up winning 4-2!

They have two more games for this season and both are against the 1st place team. I don't think there is any way they can end up with the most points in the division even if they beat the 1st place team in the next two games because that team is undefeated.

Not an ideal forecast for a soccer game! :(
