Purple project

I decided to paint the girls old nursery dresser/changing table to use in their current bedroom. It was off-white and their new loft beds are white. I originally decided to just paint them white. Well, then I got the bright idea that purple would be great. Of course, the girls loved the idea. :)

Getting everything ready on the back patio

In progress

Finished! The purple lamps from Aunt Erin work so well with the dresser!

Babysitting, snow cones and a trip to the dentist

Aunt Erin had "zombie" teeth and the kids had a blast playing with them. I think they switched teeth a few times, which totally grossed me out. Ha!

The girls and I got to help babysit for baby Calvin this past weekend. I learned from Avery that when she has a baby, she is going to make the Daddy change all the diapers. Ha, good luck with that! Calvin is the cutest - just starting to giggle and interact more with toys and people. A lot of fun to watch!

I got this cool retro snow-cone machine from Brett and Sandi for my birthday. The girls have been begging to have snow-cones since I opened the gift, so we made them the other night. They were really good! Avery asked if we could have them every night. :)

At our recent check-up, the dentist said we needed to get one of Avery's teeth filled. We've been watching the tooth and had gotten silver diamine put on it last time to extend the time until she had to have it actually filled (until she was less stressed about the process). Well, we went this week to the pediatric dentist to have it filled. Avery did so great! She loved that she got to watch Frozen on the ceiling. And the nitrous oxide made her feel like a snowflake! She got to pick out a few prizes before we left. When we walked out to the car, she said "mommy, that was so much fun!". Um, ok, not sure many people consider getting a cavity filled much fun, but I'm glad she did! Since she was so good, I gave her one of her favorite toys - LOL Surprise doll. She got one that we don't already have, so that was a bonus.

Happy birthday from my little ladies

Matt took the girls out to get some special treats for me for my birthday. They picked out some pretty flowers and yummy cupcakes. They also picked out birthday cards. Avery's card is super sparkly and has a big jewel on it - go figure! And Morgan's has a picture of a baby angel on it. So, I asked her why she picked that one. She said "because that's what you'll look like if you died-ed". Um, yikes - thanks. She even drew a picture of an angel inside the card, too. She was super sweet about it and thought it was perfect. Gotta love her!

I may never blow out another candle by myself again!

Thumbs up

So, you now how you can "like" something in You Tube by clicking the thumbs up? Well, at the end of the videos the girls watch on You Tube, the person in the video always says "If you liked this video, make sure to give it a thumbs up". I saw the girls doing this the other night... giving the video a literal thumbs up. So cute! :)

"Aminal" lover

For some reason, the girls can not say "animal"... it comes out "aminal". It's really cute!

We let the girls take a stuffed animal in their beds with them at night. Morgan has amassed quite the collection. She just loves to cuddle with them at bedtime. I went in the other night and saw she had surrounded herself with all of them. :)

Labor Day Weekend

We kicked off the Labor Day weekend with another attempt at a backyard campout. If you remember, a few weeks ago we camped out in the backyard and ended up getting rained on in a freak downpour! This time we made it through the night with no rain! Yay! Of course, the temperature dropped down to 46 degrees, so it was a little chilly. Perfect sleeping weather, actually. We all slept in really late!

Fire pit and the tent

Gotta have s'mores!

We had some special color packets for the fire

All snuggled up in a bunch of blankets!
Matt and I got a chance to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate my birthday. We ate at Perry's in Oak Brook. Probably the best lobster bisque I've ever had!

While we were out, the girls were baking birthday cakes for me with Grandma and Grandpa. To say the cakes were interesting would be an understatement. One was edible... the other, not so much. Ha! The next morning, we iced the cakes.

We had a cookout at our place and Matt made his yummy peach BBQ chicken. So much good food and fun times with the family!

I thought it would be good to get a picture of all the kiddos together. Um, bad idea. Maybe when they are teenagers we'll get a good picture of all of them together. These pictures crack me up!

And of course, Matt thought it would be funny to take a picture of us trying to get a picture of the kids. These all just crack me up! :)

Then, we blew out the birthday candles... which was quite the ordeal. When you have a bunch of kids, you have to make sure everyone gets a turn to blow out the candles. We relit the candles a few times. :)

Here is the wonderful cake the girls made me - one layer of purple (Avery's favorite color) and one layer of blue (Morgan's favorite color). I loved it!

The kids played dress up in the basement. Matt got sucked in and was turned into Rainbow Dash (from My Little Pony). I think it looks great on him!
