Dentist

The girls had a check-up at the dentist on Wednesday morning. Both girls did great and were cavity free! Avery does have a spot inside one of her teeth that they are watching. It formed when her teeth were developing and the enamel grew over the spot. Not totally uncommon, I guess. This is our second time at the dentist's new location. It's pretty nice with TVs on the ceiling. The girls watched YouTube shorts during their appointments.

While we were there, they told us that Avery's carrier (orthodontic gear) had come loose, so we had to visit the orthodontist later that day as well!

Trip to the Dentist

Since we were off school, I had set up a dentist appointment for the girls. For some reason, Morgan was so nervous that she was going to have "like four cavities". But, everything turned out great. Zero cavities for either of them! Avery still has five teeth to lose (she's on the super slow path), but Morgan is all done and her permanent teeth are in.

We celebrated by getting sugary drinks from Starbucks on the way home - ha!

Trip to the Dentist

Morgan had to get some sealants put on her teeth now that she's lost all of them and the new ones are in. Our dentist gives out little toys at the end of the visit and here is what Morgan picked out! Ha! :)

Morgan's first cavity

Morgan was devastated last week when they found a cavity at her dental check-up. She was so worried about getting it filled and having a shot. She stressed about it for all the days leading up to the appointment. Even Twinkle Toes tried to calm her down.

When we got to the appointment, Morgan was so upset. The dentist was really nice and calmed her down. They also gave her nitrous oxide, which helped! They have a tv on the ceiling, so she watched Monsters, Inc. The part she was the most worried about was getting the shot. She actually didn't even know she got the shot! She didn't believe the dentist when he told her he had already given it to her! She thought for sure he was lying. He even showed her the needle and that the medicine was all gone. So, needless to say, it went much better than she expected. Thank goodness!

We celebrated with milkshakes from Portillo's afterwards because she was starving (and wasn't allowed to eat anything except soft foods until feeling came back in her mouth).

No cavities!

The girls went to the dentist Thursday morning. Both girls had no cavities! :)

Morgan even colored one of the tooth pictures (well, she had to stop mid-color to go into see the dentist)!

No cavities!

Morgan had a dentist appointment today... and what's the best way to celebrate no cavities??? A big ice cream treat from Eiffel Waffle, of course!

Favorite thing about the dentist

This is Avery's favorite part of going to the dentist. :)

Dentist

The girls had another successful trip to the dentist. They both did great and had a blast playing with the water and suction straw. Ha!

Morgan is a little ahead of the game as far as her teeth are concerned. She's already lost two teeth and her 6 year molars on the top are almost fully in. She had been complaining of a headache and her mouth hurting. It hadn't occurred to me that she'd be getting her molars yet. But, Erin mentioned it and the dentist confirmed it.

Avery is the opposite. She still doesn't even have a loose tooth.

Babysitting, snow cones and a trip to the dentist

Aunt Erin had "zombie" teeth and the kids had a blast playing with them. I think they switched teeth a few times, which totally grossed me out. Ha!

The girls and I got to help babysit for baby Calvin this past weekend. I learned from Avery that when she has a baby, she is going to make the Daddy change all the diapers. Ha, good luck with that! Calvin is the cutest - just starting to giggle and interact more with toys and people. A lot of fun to watch!

I got this cool retro snow-cone machine from Brett and Sandi for my birthday. The girls have been begging to have snow-cones since I opened the gift, so we made them the other night. They were really good! Avery asked if we could have them every night. :)

At our recent check-up, the dentist said we needed to get one of Avery's teeth filled. We've been watching the tooth and had gotten silver diamine put on it last time to extend the time until she had to have it actually filled (until she was less stressed about the process). Well, we went this week to the pediatric dentist to have it filled. Avery did so great! She loved that she got to watch Frozen on the ceiling. And the nitrous oxide made her feel like a snowflake! She got to pick out a few prizes before we left. When we walked out to the car, she said "mommy, that was so much fun!". Um, ok, not sure many people consider getting a cavity filled much fun, but I'm glad she did! Since she was so good, I gave her one of her favorite toys - LOL Surprise doll. She got one that we don't already have, so that was a bonus.

Special treat to celebrate a trip to the dentist!

Ha! I'm sure a big milkshake from Steak-n-Shake is probably not the best idea after seeing the dentist, but that's what this girl requested!

We had to take Avery to a pediatric dentist to get a cavity filled (since they have the specialized kids' tools and our regular dentist is a family dentist). Turns out, the "cavity" was not really that bad and they didn't need to fill it. Instead, they used this stuff called silver diamine to kill the bacteria. Um, where was this stuff when I was a kid!?!

Trip to the dentist

I took the girls to the dentist for their first official check-up. They had gotten a check-up at daycare by a dentist the school brought in, but this is the first time going to an office. Avery was SO excited! She wanted to dress up for the appointment. She even picked out a headband to match her new dress!  This girl is definitely our little fashionista!

Avery went first and was awesome! They said she was really good for a child her age. She let them look in her mouth and polish her teeth. Morgan had a more normal reaction to being there and didn't really want much to do with the whole process. She eventually let them do everything they needed to... as long as they kept squirting water in her mouth. She thought that was great! I think she drank half a gallon of water at the appointment. Ha!

The girls left with lots of stickers and goodie bags and a love for the dentist! :)

It was raining, so she wanted to bring her umbrella

Sisters!

They wanted to stay and play in the waiting room

Cool shades

The girls liked playing with the suction straw
