Friday night, Matt and I stayed in and had a Wii bowling championship. I lost miserably. I think I need some practice!
On Saturday, we ventured out to the Holiday Bar for brunch. Matt informed me that the snow was GREAT for making snowballs, as he pelted me with them. Such a kid!
Saturday afternoon, we headed out to the 'burbs to Matt's boss' house for dinner and what was supposed to be a "how to change a tire" lesson. Last time we were at their house, one of the girls said she didn't know how to change her tires, so her winter tires were just sitting in her bedroom. Shannon's husband, Tim, was going to show us how to change from summer tires to winter tires. Since it snowed, he had already changed the tires, so we skipped the lesson and just hung out drinking wine from their wine cellar.
The theme for the night was appetizers, so everyone brought an appetizer or two to share. We cooked there as well, so we took over their kitchen and made quite a mess. We sat around the fire and ate all the great food!
Matt even got to shoot off bottle rockets from one of the empty wine bottles. I'm not really sure what that was about, but he was pretty jazzed about it. : )

Labor day
I love 3-day weekends... I just hate going back to work after them.
Yesterday morning, I tried out the new Wii Fit that I got Matt for his birthday. Matt watched me and laughed. I learned that I have very bad balance. The game asked me if I trip a lot when I walk. Nice. I also had a hard time head-butting the soccer balls. I kept missing and then when I did get it right, it wasn't a ball, but a spiked shoe (which is negative points... you're supposed to try to avoid those!) My Wii Fit age was 42... I'd say that I have much room for improvement.
In the afternoon, the Reuters came over to finish up the bbq chicken from Sunday's bbq. So much chicken leftover. Reuter tried out the Wii Fit. Then we played MarioKart... fun game. I also have much room for improvement in this game. : )
Matt grilled out some corn on the cob (which turned out great!) and we finished off the last of the chicken (and a few bottles of wine). We played a few games of Oh Hell and Michelle was the big champ.
Now, I'm sitting at work... sucks. At least, this is a short work week.

Matt wins
I have been on a great Wii bowling streak lately and I have no clue why. But the other night Matt kicked my a55 at bowling and of course, he took a picture of the final score for me to post here (as I have been known to post a pic or two when I beat him). I forgot until now that it was on my camera, so here it is.

The Interns
Last night, Matt & Erin H. had a BBQ for the interns. We started off at Erin's place with appetizers, then ended up at Matt's place for burgers and dogs.
We played Wii bowling, boxing, swimming, running and trampoline.
Matt got KO'd pretty quickly in boxing...
This picture cracked me up... looks like Matt is giving John a total stare-down, but I don't think that's really what was going on.

Some of the interns were determined to get the golf ball on the tee... I think they spent a couple of hours working on this thing. I think only one of them actually did it, though.

Taste of Randolph
On Sunday, I was nursing a little bit of hangover in the morning from all the wine I drank the night before, so I slept in a little. I had big intentions of running some errands, but fell pretty short of those goals. I was moving around by about noon, though.
We all met up at Matt's house in the afternoon to head over to the Taste of Randolph.

The weather was ok... it kept raining off and on all day. But when the sun was out, it was steamy!

We made a lap around the place to check out all the different restaurants that had booths there to make sure we knew what we wanted to eat. We ran into Kelin and her sister... and also into Erin (the bachelorette) and her two cousins. They said they had a rough morning as well.
I love the restaurant Red Light, so I got the steak sandwich from their booth. It was really tasty. Erin (my sister) got the corn-on-the-cob from there. We also got chips-n-guacomole from DeCero. That place is decent, but the past couple of times Matt & I went there, the food wasn't that great and the service was bad. Brett tried some chicken tikka on flatbread from Veersaway, an Indian restaurant.

Then we all got chocolate covered goodies for dessert... strawberries, pretzels and rice-krispy treats. Yum! Matt finished his before I could get a pic, but he obliged and let me take this one:

After getting all full at the Taste, the Reuters and Matt & I headed back to his place for a few drinks and some Wii. We played Wii Olympics and then had a big Wii Bowl-a-thon. We played 7 games... for shots - loser does a shot, winner picks what that shot is. Last time this happened, tequila was warmed up in the microwave, so I was a little worried!
Michelle was out of the running for the shots because she had been partying for four days straight and was a little done with it by then. So, it was down to me, Matt and Andy.
I usually lose at bowling against Matt... like ALL the time. Even when he uses AJ (the Anti-Jabba, a left-handed Mii). Maybe it was the threat of doing a shot of gin or Jack Daniels or warm tequila... or maybe I just miraculously improved, but I bowled much better than I normally do and avoided being the big loser and doing a nasty shot for all but one game!!! I was so happy!

The one shot I had to do was Jack and it went down rough.

Competitive much???
Have I mentioned before that Matt & I might be a little competitive when it comes to the Wii??? {This happened a few weeks back and I meant to post it then, but better late than never.}
By some miracle, I actually beat Matt at bowling in Wii (like 3 games in a row). Granted, he was playing with the Anti-Jabba (his left-handed alter ego), but even with that Mii, he usually creams me. Anyway, being that I am camera happy, I went to take a pic of the debacle of a game he had and this is what happened... yep, that's him first trying to block the camera and then racing to the machine to turn it off before I could snap another pic. Nice. : )
Since that day, I don't believe that I have beat him at another game of bowling. I did beat him at running in the Wii Olympics, but that was probably because he hadn't yet figured out how to use the Wii-mote. : (
Matt bought the Wii Olympics game the other day and we hadn't had a chance to play it yet... until last night. It's so much fun... and quite a workout! We played all of the games - swimming, running, fencing, trampoline (my favorite... even though I'm horrible at it!), shooting, table tennis (my least favorite)... I think that's it. My arms were super tired by the end of the Olympics! I think Matt & I might be a tiny bit competitive. : )
I bet it's pretty funny to watch people (namely me) play this game. I noticed I was actually "jumping" when I was doing the trampoline... and when I was fencing, I kept getting closer and closer to the tv because I was actually lunging forward (instead of just jabbing the Wii-mote forward). I'm sure it was entertaining for the neighbors across the street.
