Quarantine Day 49: The day I traumatized Morgan

Today started off really great with a little remote learning for the girls and their dolls.

Afterwards, we went for a walk to get some fresh air. Morgan found a giant worm on the ground and I let her pick it up and hold it for a bit.

Then, when we got back home, this happened. What you are looking at is the result of a not-so-smart bird laying eggs in a wreath on a door that opens and closes multiple times a day.

After this, the girls bawled for what seemed like hours. Morgan kept saying to me "Aren't you sad that you killed those baby birds?" and "Do you think the birds are sad that you killed their babies?" Yep, she definitely made me feel a ton worse.

We decided to do some family art afterwards to get their minds off of it. This also ties into the "C" day for the countdown - Creativity Day - do a creative art project.

At night, we always say our favorite parts of the day and after we got done with that, Avery said, "well, I know what my LEAST favorite part of the day was... it was when mommy killed those baby birds!" Ugh. This event will not be soon forgotten.

Quarantine Day 48: Airplanes

So, we are day behind in the alphabet countdown. Yesterday, was "A" - make paper airplanes. We made some paper airplanes and they flew really well. Too bad the weather was yucky or else we could have tried them out outside. Today is "B" for Bubbles, but we'll put that off for a nicer day.

One of the girls assignments was to draw a picture of someone who is a gift to the world or draw themselves because they are a gift to the world. Avery drew a picture of me. Love!

Then, she drew this for me. (She may be going through a clingy phase during all this lockdown stuff). Matt told me to keep this and bring it back out when she's a teenager! Ha!

Avery loves helping cook!

I have been really busy with work this week and Morgan was feeling bad for me. She sent me this message tonight. Love her!

Quarantine Day 47: Makeover

This morning. we went on a walk around the pond and we say over 15 slugs! Yikes! There were some really big ones, too! Morgan brought a couple home to put in her bug holder.

This was the first day of the countdown until the last day of school. Each day has a different theme coordinating with a letter of the alphabet. There are 26 days left until the end of school. Today for "A" it was paper airplane day. Check back tomorrow because we weren't able to fit in our airplanes today.

But, we did make a trip over to Aunt Erin's for an Avery makeover. She was really happy to get all made up and put on some pretty jewelry. When we got home, she told us to call her Queen Avery for the night. We even gave her a fancy glass to drink out of for dinner!

Quarantine Day 46: Terrariums

Today's surprise activity was to make terrariums. The girls have been trying to grow a seed they found on one of our walks into a tree with no luck. So, I thought this would be a fun activity and hopefully a little more successful than the random seed in a pot. :)

The girls' masks I bought off Etsy came in. Avery loves the pattern. She thinks we all look like robbers when we wear these. They played a whole game with Matt wearing them like they were robbing places. Ha!

Quarantine Day 45: Happy Birthday to Sandi & Sunday Funday

Happy Birthday to Sandi! She's the big 4-0! We all sang happy birthday to her on our weekly family zoom call. The kids made signs as well! I have a video of them singing to her, too, but I can't get that to load right now.

Later in the day, we enjoyed the beautiful weather with some backyard time and a little Happy Hour! The adults had adult beverages and the kids had milkshakes!

The kids had fun playing together.

Avery was excited to see a beer with her name on it! I actually really like this beer!

Then the adults got to talking about how Grayson really wanted a mohawk and Matt said he could do it with his clippers.. and the rest is history!

Discussing the look with the hairdresser

Matt working on Grayson's hair

We brought out the hair dye for the other kids to have some fun, too

The finished mohawk - with a little green dye

After the boys left, we soaked up every last bit of sunshine and played with bubbles in the backyard.

Later, Avery was playing with Snapchat. Some funny (and sort of creepy) stuff!

Quarantine Day 44: Ping Pong Balls!

Yay for the weekend! We kind of started our weekend a little early yesterday with a down day, and we kept our relaxation going today as well. It was rainy, so no outside time. I hate days that we can't get out and get fresh air. Just makes us feel more trapped.

Matt ordered a bunch of ping pong balls and we put them to good use today. The kids liked the "music" of it all as well as getting the ball to bounce on all pans and end up in the middle.

And here's another one... we got it to work!

The boys came over for a play date in the morning and we played Wii for a bit. The little boys needed some help with the Mario Kart game, and the girls sat with them. So cute!

Daddy rigged this up so we could drop balls from the balcony into the foyer! It was very exciting when we got one in the bowl!

Quarantine - Day 43: Mental Health Day

It's been a long week for all of us. We had a rough night of sleeping and everyone was a little tired. We decided to take a much-needed break today. Matt and I had to work still, but the girls got a day off from remote learning and schedules. We binged Lady Bug and Cat Noir episodes with the girls. I got quite a bit of work done on the couch while hanging out with them.

We took a leisurely walk around the neighborhood to get some fresh air.

The social distancing duck
The girls almost dressed alike... and not on purpose. They thought this was funny.

Snapchat fun with Avery

Morgan is one of the main reasons we skipped the remote learning today. It's a lot for her each day. It's rare that we get through a day of remote learning without Morgan having a meltdown. It stresses us all out when she isn't up for learning. She doesn't like the schedules like Avery does. So, when we got this note from Morgan's teacher tonight, it was perfect timing. I'm not sure if she saw that Morgan hadn't submitted any work today or she probably just sent notes to all the kids, but either way, it made her smile.

We really need a good night's sleep, so tonight the girls are all sleeping together. Avery and I are in the bed and Morgan is sleeping in her loft. Fingers crossed we all sleep well!
