Trip to Quincy

We drove to Quincy for the weekend. The Sammy Fund is now just a golf tournament. Last year was the last big weekend full of events. We dropped the girls off with the grandparents and spent the weekend in Quincy kid-free! :)

Such a girly-girl - putting her make-up on

Matt golfed on Saturday and Sunday (the weather was gorgeous!) and I spent some time with my aunt on Saturday and did some shopping on Sunday.  On Saturday night, we grabbed a few drinks at the Tangerine (bowling alley) and Matt had one of those HUGE tenderloins. Seriously, I think it's at least 3 buns worth! Afterwards, we went to the Quincy Oktoberfest. We got there just in time to watch the Beer and Brat dash (down a beer in one direction and a brat on the way back).

Matt was disappointed we got there too late to enter in the dash

On your mark, get set, go!

Pumpkin beer = yum!

While we were partying/golfing/shopping/etc in Quincy, the girls were having a blast with Mama and Papa. They spent some time at the park and also hit up a local fall festival with lots of fun activities.

A fun weekend was had by all! :)

3

How can the girls be three already?!? I look at them now and at pictures of them as newborns and just can't believe how fast it's going! Of course, those first few months seemed to drag on and on while we were in a sleep deprived stupor. Ha!

We had their 3 year old checkup and both girls are doing well. We found out at the checkup that Morgan was sick, so we ended up with breathing treatments and an antibiotic for her. Both girls had a virus with a pretty nasty cough, but Morgan was worse and wheezing. That's the first time Morgan has been on an antibiotic... made it 3 years!

Avery is 38 inches tall and 33.7 lbs. Morgan is 39.75 inches tall and 32.7 lbs. For comparison, I was 40.25 inches tall and 34 lbs at that age. I think Morgan looks super tall, so I must have looked like a giant!

A little bit about the girls at this age...

Morgan is such a caring and loving little girl! She is very sensitive and even raising our voices at her makes her cry! If she sees her sister upset, she asks why and tries to comfort her with hugs and loveys. She is always hugging us and telling us she loves us. She cares for her baby dolls like they are real little people and the same for all of her "animals". She'll tell me her polar bear is sad because he misses his mommy or that her doll is crying because she's sleepy.

Avery is our little fashionista! She has an opinion about what she wants to wear and picks out her clothes (and Morgan's). She still loves everything purple. Her mind always seems to be going... she asks us A LOT of questions! She loves "cooking" us dinner and setting a table for all of us to eat together. She makes us pancakes and cookies out of play-doh and brings us birthday cake and sings to us!

The girls together are so fun to watch! They have crazy imaginations. There are always pumas chasing them (Go Diego Go) or Swiper the Fox is trying to take their toys (Dora). And they say random things in Spanish all the time that I'm not sure if they are using correctly. :) For two little girls who barely said 10 words at age 2, they have truly made up for it now! As anyone who spends a few minutes with them will tell you, they never.shut.up!

This is such a fun age!

Love these two

Finger painting

We made a rule after she did this that paint stops at the elbow!

A perfect 3rd birthday

On Monday, Matt and I stayed home with the girls. They were very excited that they got to stay home from school.

We started out with a trip to the grocery store. The girls loved helping us shop and filling their carts.

Then we met up with Mama, Papa and Grayson for lunch. The girls got a special treat from the waitress!

After naps, we headed to Bengston's pumpkin farm. The girls got to pet animals, ride on ponies, jump in corn boxes and pick out pumpkins. They had a great time! Of all the things they remember most about the day... is when the pony in front of Morgan peed after they finished riding them. Ha!

Morgan wanted to touch every animal

Avery was a little more cautious

Happy Birthday to everyone!

Since all the kiddos have a birthday within a month of each other, we decided to throw one big bash this past weekend. My parents came up and Ruth flew in for a long weekend. It was a crazy fun party and the girls had a blast!

Piñata fun!

Uncle Brett made the final swing

All kinds of treats!

Morgan wanted to feed her baby along with the boys

Got little birthday cakes for all the kiddos
