Tasty

On Saturday, Matt and I ventured over to the Taste of Randolph for lunch. Our "lunch" ended up lasting all day and we came home full and sunburned! A few friends from work met up with us as well.

We started off with guac from Decero - goes well with beer and champagne!

Pulled pork sliders and mac-n-cheese from Crossroads

This was a duck leg, but I didn't get back in time before Matt had eaten it all!

The people watching at these festivals is always so much fun! Lots of interesting people and lots of dogs!

Who knew they made shades for dogs?!?!

Oh, and I can't forget the entertainment at the Taste of Randolph! There was definitely a strange show going on with some scantily clad women. I'm not sure what it was because I didn't hear the announcments at the beginning and I didn't see any signs... but whoa!

Ummm... I thought this was a family event?!?

I think she was dancing to "Push It"

We finished off the Taste of Randolph with Belgian Chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels - yum! We also stopped off for a drink at Haymarket on our way home (you know, because it was such a long walk home).

Playing catch up on the blog

As Matt told me the other day - "your blog sucks". Yep, sure does. Thanks, babe. I have not posted anything for about 2 weeks. I'd like to say it's because I'm so busy and just don't have time, but it's more likely because there isn't anything all that exciting to post about. And I've been terrible about taking pictures, so I don't really have many of those to post either.

So, let's see what we've been up to the past 2 weeks...

Matt went to Vegas for Barry's bachelor party. I'm pretty sure he had a terrible time... and by terrible, I mean awesome. : ) I talked to him once on Saturday night. Matt was kind of a little on the drunker side - he may have been playing beer pong earlier that day.

Concentrating!
Ross arranged for all the guys to go to Smith and Wollensky's for a steak dinner. Here is sort of how my conversation with Matt went:

Me: Aren't you supposed to be at dinner right now?
Matt: They left me.
Me: They left you? Where are you?
Matt: I don't know.
Me: You don't know where you are?
Matt: No.
Me: Are you going to dinner?
Matt: I'm trying to get a ride.
Me: Why don't you just take a cab?
Matt: There are NO cabs. I'm going to walk. (sidenote: this is Vegas... no cabs? really Matt?)
Me: How far away is the restaurant?
Matt: SEV-EN MILES (sidenote: I later learned the restaurant was not 7 miles away - no clue where he came up with this)
Me: Um, ok. You should probably just take a cab.
Matt: (ignoring me, talking to someone else) Hey, can I get a ride from you?

And then he hung up on me. So, I'm thinking - my drunk husband has no idea where he is and is catching a ride from some stranger in Vegas. I call back, of course, to make sure he's ok. No answer. I text. No answer. Apparently, Ross also texted Matt, trying to figure out why he didn't show up for dinner. No word from the boy. I text him about every hour for the next 4 hours trying to get him to respond back. Nothing. Needless to say, I was a little worried about him. To top it off, I had been watching that stupid ID (Investigation Discovery) channel all night... you know, shows like "Disappeared" where people just vanish without a trace and they later find them dead in a cave in the middle of the Nevada desert.

So, what happened to him??? Well, he had gone back to his hotel room and passed out for the night. Much better scenario that what I had pictured in my head! : )

This past weekend, we had a little BBQ at our place and Matt made his favorite peach bbq sauce. We had a minor propane problem - ie, it ran out right after he put the chicken on the grill... not awesome. Erin and I made a quick trip to Home Depot and the bbq was saved. We played a lot of Wii bowling - for shots of course. Afterwards, we tried to see Bridesmaids, but it was sold out. So, we played a few rounds of euchre. Ross unveiled his latest favorite quote (and variations of it), which he creepily repeated many times during the night - "put the lotion in the basket" - from Silence of the Lambs. OMG.

On a sidenote, I may have over-estimated the amount of fruit that comes out of a watermelon and canteloupe. We have been eating that stuff all week! I even made a watermelon martini out of it, which unfortunately did not turn out nearly as good as I hoped it would.

Sunday night was the last night of our bowling league. After 13 (or 14?) weeks, Matt's team finished in 1st place and my team finished in 2nd place. We got to bowl against each other for the last week. The last bowl of the night, Ross had a tricky spare to pick up. So, of course, we start chanting "put the lotion in the basket". Apparently, it was just the encouragement he needed, because he picked the spare up! ; ) We celebrated afterwards at The Purple Otter.

1st - Purple Otter, 2nd - Deeznuts
Champs!
On Tuesday, I flew to Philly and back for a work meeting/lunch. I had a 6am flight, which is SO much earlier when I was actually getting up for it than I thought it was going to be when I booked the flight. Ugh. We had lunch at a seafood restaurant called Devon, which was really good. Surprising thing about downtown Philly was that I hardly saw any crosswalk signs. I'm so used to watching for those in Chicago. Kind of strange.

Random... at O'Hare, I noticed that the morning cleaning staff was wearing smocks that say "SCRUB" in big letters on the back of them. For some reason, I find this kind of degrading. Maybe it's because of that song. I don't know. I guess I hadn't seen that ever before.

One week from today... I'll be on another 6am flight... but this time it will be for fun, not work. Let the countdown to Punta Cana begin! My pale body is going to go into shock when we get there and the sun hits my skin. I can't wait!

Oh, I thought I would share these pics Erin sent me... her couch is no more thanks to Sofie!

Day 1 - Sofie managed to chew a hole in the top of the couch and get all that stuffing out!

Day 2 - Erin covered the hole with a blanket - that did not stop Sofie! This is how Erin found her... she certainly looks comfy!
