Kindergarten School Pictures
We got the school pictures back today. Oh my, I just can't even deal with how old they look in these pictures. Especially since we were just looking through their pre-k graduation books with Ruth with all their pictures from the past 3+ years at daycare. My first impression of Morgan's picture was that she looked way older than kindergarten! And honestly, I can't believe that Avery has a bigger smile than Morgan. But, I just love the pictures! I love this age and seeing the girls grow and learn so much already in kindergarten. :)
The past week
It's been a busy one!
We went from hot to freezing in a matter of one day. The girls were really excited to bust out their new winter coats and hats!
Grandma Ruth came for a visit. She's moving up here in a couple of weeks and we had a lot of stuff to get accomplished during her visit. She got the girls this stable and ponies for their birthday and they love it! They are so excited that she is going to be closer to us and we will get to see her more often.
We had to blow off some energy, so we met up with the Wilken crew at FunZone.
The Wilkens all got on the bumper cars and banged into each year! :)
The girls got to enjoy snack on the front porch in my new furniture set that Matt put together for me! It's perfect!
This is how I bribe the girls into going to the mall with me... promise them a train ride and Auntie Anne's pretzels! One day, they'll be asking to go to the mall to shop, but for now this is what they like to do.
At the grocery store and Avery screams about how huge the pumpkins are. She ran over and said "take my picture". So, here it is! :)

Cheer!
Avery wants to be a cheerleader when she grows up, so we got her a cheer costume for her birthday. She LOVES it!
Sammy Fund Weekend
This past weekend was the annual Sammy Fund golf tournament. Matt and I have been going to this every year for a while. The girls get to stay in Rochester with my parents while we have some fun in Quincy. Ross and his dad also came into town for the tournament.
On Saturday, the guys all golfed and I got caught up on my shopping. And you may have noticed that the blog has been updated as well. I spent a lot of my downtime over the weekend getting caught up on this blog! After they finished golfing, we went to the Tangerine Bowl for some food and drinks. Matt had to get his tenderloin fix!
On Saturday night, Chuck's friends throw a party at their house. Lots of fun drinking, eating and catching up with the Quincy folks.
On Sunday morning, we had Bloody Mary's courtesy of Matt and got ready for the big tournament. My uncle's team always wear some crazy outfits! :)
While we were having a ton of fun in Quincy, the girls had a packed weekend with Mama and Papa.
They went to a festival and made fairy houses...
And got to play with worms...
And paint pumpkins...
The next day they went to a museum with lots of different exhibits.
They pretended to be dentists...
And forecasters...
And had some fun water play...
They also got to do some super fun zip-lining in the backyard and ride around on Papa's golf cart. I think they even took turns driving! :) They were sad to have to leave Mama and Papa's house!

Six
Oh, how can these girls be six already?!? I just think that sounds so unreal and way too old! We celebrated in the morning at our house. They had a great day at school (it was even a fun lunch day with pizza!). Then, we headed to Rochester and they got to celebrate with Mama and Papa that night with cake and candles!
So, a little about the girls at age six...
Avery is 45 lbs and 46.5 inches tall. She loves rainbows, butterflies, unicorns and sparkles; basically anything girly. She alternates between wanting to be a cheerleader, a dance teacher and an artist when she grows up. She loves kindergarten and has made a few new best friends. She seems to have come out of her shell in the past year and isn't as shy as she used to be. She loves anything to do with art. She is happiest coloring pictures or doing crafts. She is very particular about what she wears to school and how her hair is done. She tells me what hairstyle she wants every morning. She finally has a loose tooth and just can't wait until it falls out. Any day now!
Morgan is 45 lbs and 48 inches tall. She is just like me at that age; really tall and thin. She loves Superhero High girls, animals (especially horses and dogs), Disney princesses and coloring. She wants to be a zookeeper when she grows up. She loves kindergarten, mainly for the social aspect of it. She makes a new best friend every day. :) She is still super outgoing and will talk to anyone. Even the pizza delivery guy gets her life story. She knows everyone's names at school and says hi to them when she sees them. She has the biggest heart and is such a loving and caring little girl. She's also very sensitive and wears her heart on her sleeve. And Morgan is a jokester - she loves entertaining us!
The girls play really well together most days. They are pretty different in general, but seem to figure out a way for Morgan to be Wonder Woman and Avery to be a cheerleader and find a common theme to play together. They love sharing a room still and can't sleep if the other one isn't in there with them. At school, they are in the same class, but generally talk about playing with different kids during the day.
We love watching them grow into such amazing little people! Happy 6th birthday Avery and Morgan!

Picture Day
The girls had picture day last week at school. I can't wait to see how they turn out! Here are the outfits they picked and a quick shot of them as we headed off to school.
Homework
The girls kindergarten teacher does not give out homework, which is really nice. The girls are so tired after school and we barely get much time with them before bed as it is. I really don't want to be fighting with them to do homework. So, we were relieved to find out she wouldn't be sending homework home. However, she did send home a worksheet over the weekend as "optional homework" if you wanted to see what kind of things they are doing at school. Of course, the girls thought this was fun stuff and wanted to sit down and do the homework. Getting so old!
Girls weekend
Every year I get together with my friends from high school, Crystal and JJ. We alternate each other's cities and this year we headed to Omaha! They are the kind of friends you see once a year, but the second you are together, it's like you just saw each other yesterday. We catch up, eat, drink and relax!
We all got the bulls eye more than once!
Then, we had a little competition. I ended up doing much better than I thought I would. I was pretty sure I would injure myself, but we all three left unscathed!
After that, we went on a tour of the Blackstone district of Omaha. It was kind of rainy/cold day, but the drinks and food were good. We started off at a brewery with the best pretzels and we ended at a gourmet ice cream shop that was so delicious!
After that, we saw A Simple Favor. I never go to see movies in a theater anymore, so that was fun. On Sunday, we went for brunch at Le Bouillon, which was fabulous.
While I was away having fun with the girls, Matt was having a weekend with our girls. They had movie night and got to sleep in the family room on Friday night. They hung out with their cousins a little bit and got to go out for lunch at one of their favorite restaurants, Weber Grill.
I brought them some souvenirs and it took about two seconds for them to dive right in. Guess they didn't miss me much, just wanted their souvenir! Ha! :)
Friday night, we went out for drinks and dinner at JJ's country club.
Then, on Saturday, we started off with some axe throwing at Flying Timber. Crystal and I had never done this before. JJ had gone once before and had fun and thought it would be a good time. It was!!! You get to throw axes at a wall and drink beer. Loved it!
Crystal and I stuck to the two handed throw. JJ liked the one-armed throw.
