Sprinkler time
The girls got these body boards at Five Below today and found a fun way to use them when running through the sprinkler. Daddy even got in on the fun!
Farmers market fun
We went to the local farmers market this weekend after a stop off at the library. We always get the fresh squeezed lemonade and freshly made donuts. This time, there was a stand with an art project for the kids to do. It was for an upcoming exhibit where they are going to put a bunch of tie-dyed fabric squares out in the elements for a few weeks so kids can see how the weather changes them. So, the girls each got to tie dye a square. Avery was wearing her tie-dyed shirt she made, which impressed the ladies running the stand.
Another lost tooth
Morgan lost one of her two front teeth! That thing held on for a couple days longer than I thought it would. There was part of it that just didn't want to come out and any time Morgan would mess with it, it would bleed quite a bit. So, she waited a little longer and then just like that, she yanked it out in the car ride home from camp one day! She was excited to get her $5 from the tooth fairy and spent it the next day! She's learning how to talk with the huge hole in the front of her mouth!

Avery = 2 (and she's very upset that she hasn't lost more yet!)

Gymnastics
We tried out the park district's summer gymnastics program the past 6 weeks. The girls liked the class and seemed to have fun. They got to work on the balance beam, bars, trampoline and floor. They really liked the coaches as well. It was perfect for them since I am pretty sure neither will become a professional gymnast. :)
Summer Camp
The past two weeks the girls have been going to the Avery Coonley summer camp near us. I have been pretty impressed with this camp and the girls have seemed to really like it.
They had a "talent show" on Thursday last week for the younger kids. This was really just a way for kids to get exposed to performing in front of an audience and not really a talent show per se. The kids put together their own numbers and were free to do just about anything. Most numbers were less than 30 seconds long. One kid did some Tae Kwon Do moves, another kid acted like a cat, and another girl tried singing but was too nervous. I was really surprised when both girls said they were going to do something for the talent show. I flashback to the shows from daycare where the girls cried through their performances. But, they both got up and did the performance and seemed to really enjoy doing it. Avery did a dance number with two of her new friends from camp, Emily and Ayla. It's basically the same little routine over and over a lot of times until the song ended. And part of the little routine was to run all the way to the outskirts of the gym, so a lot of my video is the center of the gym with no one in it. Ha! Morgan and her friend Eloise did a gymnastics routine. I missed the first few seconds where they ran together and did some cartwheels, so her video is pretty short (as was her entire routine). I was very proud of the girls for getting up there and performing. I know at their age, I would not have done that!
Then, on Friday, the Art and Music class the girls were in had a small concert so we could see what they have been up to during camp. Ruth joined me. The songs they did were so cute! We got to take home a bunch of their artwork from the camp and they did some really interesting things.

More July 4th Fun
The weekend of July 4th, we spent a day out in Crystal Lake watching the local parade, enjoying the carnival rides and then finished off with a BBQ at my brother's house (complete with homemade ice cream courtesy of my Dad!). The weather turned out to be great, although it was really hot. No rain!
Morgan loved the teacups. Avery's first thing she said to Morgan "don't spin it too much" and of course, Morgan spun the teacup the whole time! Avery had fun, though, even though the second picture below shows her with a scowl. :)

Back at Brett's house, little Calvin was a huge fan of the ice cream! He somehow ended up with an ice cream beard. :)

Trampolines!
We went to Get Air for some trampoline fun over the weekend. We got there right as it opened and we had the whole place to ourselves for at least 30 minutes. There was your basic trampoline jumping, some ninja style obstacle courses, a zip line and a section for dodgeball. Lots of fun! The girls were exhausted afterward.
Here are a few videos from the day. Avery loved the big fabric scarves and figured out some moves to do in them. Morgan loved the whole place and ran from place to place non-stop.
July 4th Fun
The forecast was not looking very promising, but we really lucked out on the 4th of July.
We started off the day with some scooter rides, that ended shortly after they started when Avery flipped over the front of her scooter. Oops.
We went out for lunch at Yard House and the girls really loved this place. Mainly because their meals included these awesome Oreo Rice Krispie treats on a stick.
We had an impromptu BBQ at my sister's house in the afternoon, complete with a water gun fight, some sprinkler time, glow sticks and sparklers!
Then, instead of playing in the little plastic pool, the boy decided to fill up the recycling bin and "swim" in that.
Of course, they started a trend and Erin had to find enough bins for everyone to have their own.
The kids played in the basement some, too.
The girls had a sleepover on their floor that night and surrounded themselves with all their glow sticks. :)
