Spring Soccer (starting early this year!)

Morgan's spring soccer league had their first outdoor game on Thursday night (at 8:30 PM, no less!) It had been a nice day, but got pretty chilly after the sun went down. They are playing in the NPL again this season.

For fun, we added some waves to Morgan's hair... it turned out beautiful! :)

Morgan had a great game! Lots of fancy footwork and great passes! She played most of the game without subbing out (even though they had 5 girls subbing in and out). Her playtime ended when she took a hard shot to the face a few minutes before the end of the game. She tried to head a kick from the goalie and misjudged the trajectory of the ball and it hit her square in the face. :( She got a bloody nose and a bad headache. She sat out the rest of the game. Her team won 7-0!

Roadrunners win in the rain and cold!

Morgan's soccer team played Tuesday night in Schaumburg and it was raining and cold! This was the coldest night we've had so far this fall! We were bundled up and under umbrellas. It stopped raining around halftime, but it was still really windy and cold.

Morgan's team was playing against the LG Celtics, who they are basically tied with for 2nd place in their division right now. Last time they played each other, they tied 2-2. This game, the girls brought their best and didn't let the weather stop them! They ended up winning 4-2!

They have two more games for this season and both are against the 1st place team. I don't think there is any way they can end up with the most points in the division even if they beat the 1st place team in the next two games because that team is undefeated.

Not an ideal forecast for a soccer game! :(

Bundled up!

These are some bright yellow uniforms!

Soccer rematch

Morgan's soccer team played against the GFC 2012 girls on Tuesday night. The last time we played this team, Morgan's team lost. But, they should have won by a lot! This time, they kept it together and won 4-1. Much better outcome!

Before practice on Monday, Morgan realized she only had one cleat. Ugh! She somehow lost the other one after practice on Thursday night. So, before practice on Monday, Matt and Morgan made a stop at Soccer 2000 and picked up a new pair of cleats. Some of the girls on her team think her shoes look like those bomb pop popsicles!

Hard to tell here but Morgan is attempting to head butt the corner kick into the goal... no luck

Soccer game

Morgan's soccer team played on Tuesday night. They had beat this team 4-1 the last time we played them, but tonight it just wasn't in the cards. They lost 4-2 (but the NPL website is showing they tied 3-3 which we know is not correct.) They have some stretches where they play really well, and then some where they just can't get it together. Avery captured a few pictures for me.

Soccer game

Morgan's team is playing in the NPL again this season, but they have the teams split into brackets this time. So, we are in the lower bracket, which hopefully means we'll win a few more games this year! We won the first game 4-1 and lost the second game 2-3.

They had a game tonight and tied 2-2. Morgan scored one of the goals! It was a late game - 8:30 PM in Schaumburg, which means we didn't get home until about 10:45 PM.

NPL

Morgan's soccer team is playing the NPL for the Spring season. Well, they are starting early! Our winter league hasn't even finished yet and we're already playing outdoor Spring league games! All of the NPL games are supposed to be on Friday nights played in Schaumburg at the Olympic Park. The first game was Friday night and it was a cold one! Avery and I didn't go because she had dance rehearsal and needed a ride.

It had been snowing/sleeting/raining during the day. The temperature during the game was around 29 degrees! Morgan played goalie half the game and in the field the second half. They played a really good team and lost 4-1. Morgan scored their only goal.
