Memorial Day

We spent the day relaxing with the girls. Played at the park, had a picnic, took a nap, and played in the water! Avery can't wait for the next holiday. She doesn't really understand why we're home, but she knows she gets to skip school on holidays! :)

Got her shades and ready for summer!

Who doesn't love a tire swing!

Water table fun!

Spray bottle fight!

Flowers

We went to buy flowers and plants for our front yard last weekend. The girls had a blast looking at all the pretty flowers. They especially loved watching the koi swim around the big bins in the store.

After we selected all the perfect plants, we headed home and planted them. The girls really love playing with the dirt and their watering cans! Morgan is currently obsessed with bugs.

Park play time

We have a little park about a block from our house that we spend a lot of time at. It's perfect for a quick walk and some playtime to burn off toddler energy!

Injuries

A couple weeks ago was rough at the Plothows!

First, Morgan face-planted on the asphalt at school and Avery landed on top of her. Morgan's nose was scraped up pretty bad and super swollen. They called me after it happened because she had a pretty bad bloody nose. They said they didn't think it was broken. I was a little worried because it was so swollen and she had trouble breathing. But she also had a cold, which didn't help matters. Luckily, it all cleared up and she seems to be fine now. Of course, she did this two days before school pictures! Can't wait to see how those turn out.

Then one night at home, Avery was running across the living room and tripped and hit the side of her face smack on the corner of their little wooden table. She immediately screamed and I thought - this is going to be bad! I picked her up and was assessing her injury and really didn't see anything. Then Matt points to the side of her face and she had already started getting a huge bruise and a big bump! We iced it and it seemed ok. As it healed, it got really ugly! Even though she hit the side of her face, she got a huge black eye, which lasted over a week. It looked worse the second week than right when it happened.

With Morgan's nose all red and huge and Avery's eye/face all purple, plus their typical skinned arms and knees, I felt like people were staring everywhere we went!

Seems like now with the warmer weather, we get an accident report from school every day! I think we should buy band-aids in bulk!

Mother's Day Tea

The girls' school throws a Mother's Day Tea each year where the kids sing some songs. Morgan and Avery usually are freaked out by the audience and spend the whole show crying on my lap. So, this year I hid behind the mom in front of me until after the show. Morgan looked really hard for me and almost saw me a few times. But, my little plan worked so well! Both girls sang in the program and no tears were shed! It also helps they are getting older and aren't as scared. Morgan has been singing the songs to me at home. Avery wouldn't sing them until after the show because her teachers told her it was a surprise for the mommies and they could only practice in the classroom. :)

And then after their turn was over, this was my silly girl!

Afterwards, we had some snacks with Aunt Erin and cousin Grayson.

Part of my present from the girls that they did at school.

And just because I thought this was super cute, too!

Bird houses

We went to Home Depot for another one of their Kids Workshops. This time the girls got to build a bird house. Morgan loved all the gluing! Both girls were more helpful with the construction part this time and got into all the hammering! This was a loud project. Avery immediately wanted to put birdseed in her finished birdhouse and set it outside so birds could live in it! Um, I think we should let the paint dry first! :)

Avery's glasses kept falling off

Fancy

We went to a super fancy bridal shower recently. The girls were invited so I thought, why not. Well, had I realized we were in for a 5 course luncheon I might have reconsidered! But, the girls were so good! They sat very nicely (with a few breaks to run around). Morgan asked after looking at the table "why there so many spoons?" Both girls loved "cheersing" with their water glasses and pretending they were drinking coffee with their coffee cups.

Sisters

Orange

It was rainbow week at school. Every class had to wear a different color on Friday and they were going to take a rainbow picture at school. The 3's were supposed to wear orange. Morgan was very opposed to the orange shirt I picked out. First of all, it has nothing on it. She MUST have a picture on the front of her shirt or it is unacceptable. We have no orange shirts with pictures. You can see her disapproval pretty clearly in this picture! :)

Butterfly and bubbles

Roasting marshmallows

Zoo

We enjoyed some nice weather and a trip to the zoo a few weeks back. Avery insisted on getting her face painted. Morgan insisted on riding on the carousel. Avery is not that into the carousel, so she and I rode on the peacock (the only animal that is a bench and doesn't move!)

Catch it daddy!

Do you remember a few weeks back when the girls made butterfly houses at Home Depot? Well, we were outside in the backyard the other night after school and a lonely butterfly fluttered around the back deck. The girls screamed and said "Hurry, get our butterfly houses!" They made Matt open the lids and hold the houses up and yelled at the butterfly to get in! They waited forever and were disappointed when we had to go inside. :)

There's a tiny little butterfly on the window above Matt

Fairy tale ball

The girls' school held a Fairy Tale Ball a few weeks ago. It was very sweet! They had finger foods and everyone dressed up (the adults in regular clothes and a lot of the kiddos wore princess costumes). Cinderella and Prince Charming made an appearance! Morgan was SO excited that she was dressed the same as Cinderella. The girls ran around and danced and wore themselves out. It was also fun to chat with a few other parents and see the girls' friends from school. Afterwards, we went out with Erin, Ross and Grayson to a brewery in town. Such a fun night!
