Day off school

The girls had a day off school, so we took them out to lunch. They were super excited that the restaurant had Fanta. They even brought the girls refills! Hello, sugar rush!

Then, we went to Get Air to jump off all that sugar!

After the jumping, we needed to load up with more sugar, so we went to Cold Stone Creamery!

More cookie booth sales

Avery loves selling cookies with her friends at these booths... it was really chilly today, though!

Soccer game

Another Saturday soccer game with the indoor soccer league. I think this day, we had a game in the morning in Romeoville, grabbed lunch really fast, then headed to Glen Ellyn for the afternoon game!

A visit with friends

JJ, Jerry and Tori were in town looking at colleges for Tori (Northwestern and Loyola). They trekked out to the 'burbs for a night to visit with us. We tried going bowling, but that was a fail. We weren't the only ones with that idea, I guess. We ended up playing the kid version of Cards Against Humanity and ordering pizza. We went out for brunch on Monday and they flew back to Omaha.

It was a quick visit, but a nice distraction from my upcoming surgery for me! I was a nervous wreck!

The girls had fun with Tori (they love high schoolers - ha!)

Cookie Time!

Avery's troop has been selling cookies at booths around town. She sold them at the mall a week ago and then today at Jewel. She had so much fun! They even made up a cheer which got the attention of the shoppers! The firefighters stopped by and got some cookies. They even gave the girls hats to wear! It was really windy so the hats kept flying off! :)

Rube Goldberg Project

Avery's Extend class did a unit on Rube Goldberg. A Rube Goldberg machine is basically a series of simple reactions each triggering the next that results in accomplishing a simple task, so basically an overcomplicated way of doing something. The kids had to design and build a Rube Goldberg machine. Avery's machine was called the "Milo Feeder" and dumped food into Milo's bowl. We had a lot of fun working on this! It was definitely an exercise in trial and error!

Haircuts

We got haircuts for the girls this week. Their hair has gotten so long! It was definitely time for a cut!

Before (don't mind the tangles!)

After - we got a lot chopped off!

Before - so long!

She wanted to get a lot cut off - but we settled for about 6 inches!

Still looks long, but she says it feels so short!

Girls' room renovations

We got a few new things for Morgan's room and she loves them! She just couldn't decide what she wanted in her room, so I just got a few things that I knew she would like! We still need to paint and do a few more things, but so far, so good!

Avery has a specific look she wants, which is basically the Pottery Barn Teen catalog! She also really wanted a daybed! Her room is a bit smaller than Morgan's, so we had to settle for a full size instead of a queen, but it's perfect! She's going for the pink/gold theme. We are still working on getting things for the walls, but we have the desk and bed set up for now!

Happy Valentine's Day

Gifts for the girls!

Matt sent me flowers, but the first attempt turned out to be a little less than beautiful (see right below). But, he was able to get a replacement the next day that looked much better!

Violin

Morgan decided to stick with the violin. For someone who doesn't practice a lot, she is not too bad! Just imagine if she actually practiced! :)

Super bowl food

We just stayed home and watched the Super Bowl with the girls this year. They were really excited to pick out some "unhealthy" food! :) Matt made some BBQ ribs in honor of the Chiefs... and then made some Philly Cheesesteaks in honor of the Eagles. Last year, Matt had been super lucky at the squares game, but this year, only Avery was a winner. But, she was super excited!

Flat tire

I went to pick up Avery's new bed from the furniture outlet. When I got home and pulled into the garage, I heard a hissing noise coming from the tire. Ugh. At least I made it home before it went totally flat! Luckily, the tire store was able to patch it and we didn't need all new tires.

Tumbling

Avery has been going to tumbling classes and is working really hard to get her back and front walkovers so she can move up to the next level. She has the back walkover, but just a little short on the front walkover.

Happy Birthday Papa!

We celebrated Papa's birthday with a sports-themed party at Aunt Erin's house. Morgan wore a soccer jersey and Avery wore her dance tank top... representing their favorite sports.

Sleepover party!

The girls love throwing "sleepovers" in their rooms for the three of us! Morgan has them in her room mostly because she has a bigger room and a queen size bed. I'll sleep with Morgan and Avery will bring in one of the twin mattresses and sleep on the floor.

Morgan made little invitations for the sleepover last time and I got a laugh out of them! They invited Dad, too, but he just got to come for the dance party portion of the night (with glow sticks) - ha! I'm sure he was not disappointed about that! It cost a quarter to get in and the party started at 9:05. And apparently I am not allowed to swear! Ha!
