She loves soccer!

I just want to tell you all that Morgan LOVES soccer. She loves playing it, she loves talking about it, she loves watching it. She watches all sorts of games on YouTube Kids of professional and not-so-professional soccer players.

Violin Bow

Morgan earned her violin bow this week! They've just been plucking the violin strings so far, but she was really excited to show me her bow! She's doing really well, but doesn't like to practice as much as they would like her to! :)

Here she is testing out the new bow that night - let's just hope this is the before and there will soon be an after where she is playing a real song! Ha!

Carnival

We met up with Sandi and Brett in Huntley for the annual carnival out there. It was a little dreary, but luckily the run held off long enough for the kids to ride a bunch of rides, eat some sugar, play a few games and have some fun!

Afterwards, we headed to St. Charles so Morgan could sub on the Black #1 team for Roadrunners. They were short players. It was so windy and chilly!

Girl Scouts

Avery continues to love Girl Scouts! The group has gotten smaller as the girls have gotten older. Morgan and a few other girls have dropped out of the troop. They meet once a month and also have special events to earn badges. They have a camping trip coming up that Avery is going to... I think we're both a bit nervous for her to be away from a few nights, but she's really looking forward to it!

Girls weekend 2022 (Avery and Morgan and Daddy)

Avery and Morgan had a fun girls weekend with Daddy while I was away!

They got to go out on a "fancy" date with Daddy to Weber Grill for dinner!

They had a soccer tournament while I was away. Here's Morgan scoring a goal! (She's #13 - Alex Morgan's #)

They won both of their games on Saturday in tournament. They celebrated with some Dairy Queen!

Girls Weekend 2022

JJ and Crystal came to Chicago for our annual girls weekend this year!

We spent Friday night in Downers Grove with dinner at Wasabi and drinks afterwards at the Cellar Door. It was really great weather and nice to sit outside.

On Saturday, we headed into the city for some fun! We spent Saturday afternoon doing a River North food tour.

Stop #1 was the Doughnut Vault for a donut. Definitely one of the best doughnuts ever eaten!

Stop #2 was Lou Malnati's for pizza. I'm a big fan of Lou Malnati's, but we don't get it often because no one else likes it.

Stop #3 was XOCO for carnitas tacos. These were delicious! We were served the tacos by Rick Bayless' daughter.

Stop #4 was Club Lago for Italian Beef. Not a fan of their Italian Beef. I'm used to a more au jus type sauce, but this was more like Thanksgiving gravy. Good if you like that, but wasn't what I was expecting.

Stop #5 was Fabcakes for a cookie! Salted caramel chocolate cookie, I think. Whatever it was, It was delicious!

We checked into our hotel and relaxed afterwards. Before dinner, we walked around Millennium Park for a bit.

See that balcony up there??? That's where we had dinner!

We had dinner at Cindy's Rooftop and it was great! We had an awesome spot in the restaurant, the drinks and food were delicious and the views were amazing!

When we left, there was tons of traffic... people were driving on Michigan Ave celebrating Mexican Independence Day. People were shooting off fireworks from their truck beds! It was a little crazy! We finished up with a few more drinks at the Gage.

Another fun weekend catching up with JJ and Crystal! I love that we continue to get together every year! Definitely look forward to our weekends! :)

School pictures

We had school pictures on Wednesday. Avery set out her clothes the night before, of course. Morgan just winged it Wednesday morning. :)

Curriculum Night

While the girls were with Matt at soccer practice, I went to curriculum night at school. I stopped off at both 4th grade classes. Both presentations were basically the same. One new thing this year is the girls are going to get letter grades on their report cards. But, they aren't getting them on their papers that come home. We still get the 1's, 2's, 3's on the papers. For the report cards, those are converted into a letter grade magically. :)

They had a couple of fun things on the walls that the kiddos did. I love that Morgan put she looks up to her dog. Ha!
