Happy Birthday to Milo!

Milo's birthday is June 24th (had to confirm this with his official birth certificate because we all remembered it as a different day!) He is 5 years old now! We celebrated by giving him some steak and a spoonful of peanut butter and lots of extra snuggles and scratches! He's such a baby and loves attention!

Sleepover with Milo

There were some pretty big storms expected for the night, so we decided to sleep downstairs with Milo. He usually needs someone to sleep on the couch with him when the wind starts to blow or rain hits the windows. He's such a baby! There was a lot of lightning and thunder this night, so he wanted to snuggle up with Avery!

He's heading to Dogtopia for the week while we are in Costa Rica! I think he knew something was up! He wanted extra attention from all of us! :)

Sick pup

Milo is not feeling well again. At the end of January, he ate another sock and ended up sick for a few days. We got past that and he was doing so well. Then, this past week, he started throwing up again, which coincided with the HUGE storm we had. So, we thought maybe that was it because he has gotten so fearful of storms, wind, rain, you name it. But, he didn't get better, just worse over the next day. He couldn't relax and just kept moving from one place to the next in our house. We could tell he was not himself. So, I took him to the vet. No apparent causes for the illness, so they did x-rays to see if maybe he had eaten something again. They said the x-ray of his intestines was "concerning" and there might be some blockage in there (like a sock or non-digestible item). They gave him a dose of Cerenia for the vomiting. We've gotten this a few times. It stops him from getting sick so his stomach has time to heal from whatever nonsense is going on in there. If he continues to get sick while on that medicine, then you know it's an emergency. They had said they may want to do another x-ray a few hours after the first one to see if things moved through his intestines just to make sure there was no blockage. But, we decided to hold off on that and see how he did with the Cerenia shot.

He vegged out on the couch, ate his bland diet of chicken and white rice and slowly got better.

And this is how I know he's feeling better... all sprawled out in his favorite spot! 💖

I saw that if you put a picture in Chat GPT, it will change it to look like it's from Polar Express. So, I tried this out with a picture of Milo. It turned out so cute!

Avery was sick and relaxing on the couch and Milo just came up right under her feet and laid down! Good thing she saw him or she might have stepped on him! :)

Pretty boy!

Milo finally got a bath! He hadn't been able to because his rabies vaccine wasn't up to date. So, after our recent trip to the vet, we were able to get in for a grooming appointment.

 

Milo is such a baby

Milo loves his cuddle time with Avery! She sat down on the couch and he ran over, jumped up and laid his head on the pillow next to her. So cute! Then, of course, she had to tuck him in for the night! :)

Vet Visit

Milo had his annual check-up with Dr. Lindsay today. He did great! He loves all the attention, but hates the shots. And he had to get four this year! He was a little hesitant at first when the tech and the Dr. came in, but a few minutes later he was flopped over on his back requesting belly rubs. He's such a baby!

Zoomie Champ

Milo was sporting his Halloween costume for a few minutes! 

He was not a fan. He jumped up on the couch and pouted. Matt came out and he just sat like this like "please help me, Dad!" Later, he did learn how to bite it off!

Don't mind me... I'm just resting.

Milo sits like this at the bottom of the stairs when the girls go upstairs. He misses them!

Family Vacay - Back home

On Saturday morning, we had to be out of the house by 9AM EST, so 8AM our time. We had done all of our packing the night before, so just had to load up the car in the morning. We left around 7:30AM CST and made it home to DG by 9AM CST! The drive home was easy and uneventful... no storms or flooded highways this time! :)

The weather was a little rainy and the girls were fighting off some nasty colds, so we just vegged out at home for the day. We pick up Milo after his "exit" bath (the bath they give dogs after a week of boarding because they stink so bad!) He was super excited to see us!

We decided to let him upstairs to hang out with us, which we rarely do. He jumped right on the bed like he owned it, of course!

He was relegated to the floor! Look at those sad puppy eyes!

All us girls were feeling yucky, so we slept in the guest room together and let Milo crash with us. Morgan made him a little bed on the floor and he slept there for a lot of the night.

Unfortunately, he got a little too used to sleeping with us upstairs and barked the next night when we tried to make him sleep back downstairs. He's like a baby with different cries, he was using his "pay attention to me" bark at the bottom of the stairs. So, we put a stop to the upstairs sleepovers with Milo.

Helen and Ed stopped by Downer's Grove on their way to Michigan and brought Luke over for a play date with Milo. Luke isn't super into playing with other dogs, but Milo tried his best! While Luke played catch with the tennis ball, Milo chased him around the yard. :)
