Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated the Dads with lunch at Parker's. My parents were in town for the recital, so we took them out with us! We got sat in a room with a few other tables. A band was walking around performing and they stopped in our room for a few songs. Morgan wanted a steak, so she and I split a filet. Everything was delicious!

Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated with some gifts for our favorite Dad and then by spending the day relaxing by the pool! We grabbed Jimmy John's and had lunch there.

Always fun to get the blue Italian ice!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to this great Dad! The girls even let him pick where to eat lunch (this is always a huge discussion each weekend!) We grabbed lunch at Bryan's before heading to Morgan's soccer game in Libertyville! It was super hot again, but he did get to spend some time at the pool cooling off later.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a fun Father's Day celebrating our favorite guy!

We went out for lunch at the Lazy Dog. Avery and Matt always play the Dot game... it can get pretty competitive with those two!

Morgan loves the word search!

Such a sunny day!

After lunch, we spent the afternoon at the pool.

Avery was hanging out with her friend Emerson, who was giving her tips on how to jump off the diving board and go down the slide. Avery has never done either... mainly because they don't allow you to wear goggles and she doesn't like swimming without goggles. Also, she's just a bit freaked out by the diving board! Well, today was the day she decided to go both (thanks to Emerson's encouragement!)

Dad even got in on the diving board fun!

Just a couple of videos for proof that it all happened!

We ended the day with a cookout at our house and Mama Ruth coming over to join us. It was a really nice night!

Happy Father's Day

Well, we spent most of Father's Day doing dance recital stuff. Matt got to sit for about 3 hours and watch loads of other kids dance on stage just to see his daughter dance a couple of times. :) We got home and he did manage to watch a little of the golf tournament. We ordered in take out for dinner (which in all fairness is probably better than me trying to cook for him - he's way better at cooking and would probably prefer to make his own dinner if we didn't order something!)

We got him some funs gifts, but this was Avery's favorite... anytime Matt makes a joke, Avery gives a fake laugh and says "hashtag - DAD JOKE". She gets such a kick out of this!

Even though we didn't get to make the whole day special for him, we hope he knows how much he's loved!

Oh, and to top off the Father's Day evening, we had a tornado come through and the sirens went off. So, we got to wake the kids up at 11:15 to camp out in the basement for a bit. Needless to say, they were a mess. Avery gets so worried about storms, so this was not her idea of fun at all. And the basement is not the best place to try to get a good night's sleep. It's noisy with the sump pump and AC going on and off. Luckily, we weren't down there too long.

Saturday

After the soccer game, Morgan went with my parents to Nolan's baseball game. She got to hang out with Calvin!

While they were gone, Avery and I went to the Farmer's Market. We got a gigantic pretzel and some fresh squeezed lemonade (and I got an iced coffee :))

On one of the business' windows, they had painted these fairy wings. So, of course, I had to get a picture of Avery in front of them! :)

That night, we celebrated my mom's birthday a few days early and father's day for my dad.

Just be glad this is not a video - ha!

Quarantine Day 101: Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the great Dads in my life! Here's a picture from Erin's house that she made. I have to agree... these are some of the best! :)

We went on a hike at Smith Woods this morning.

(Just a little back story on the picture above: I told Morgan I was going to take a picture of them walking on the trail together and she said "OK". Then, as she was walking with Daddy and Avery, she put her arm behind her back and gave me a thumbs up. Ha!)

Instead of breakfast in bed, we did Daddy + Daughter lunch. The girls made a restaurant called Daddy's Diner and made a menu for him. They dressed alike to be waitresses.

Then, they got to eat with Daddy.

We even had a dessert bar with Papa's leftover ice cream and some sprinkle choices. Yummy!

We gave him a few gifts, which the girls said were his souvenirs from their restaurant.

We joked about us all needing a nap after lunch and Avery said "well, our restaurant has a couch for everyone to take a nap on before they head home!" So, they all laid down on the couch. They wanted me to take a picture of them pretending to be asleep... but, they could NOT stop giggling!

These are some lucky girls... and a lucky Daddy! :)

Happy Father's Day

We celebrated all things Daddy on Father's Day this year. The girls made some fun gifts for him and we took him out to lunch at Weber Grill. This is their favorite "fancy" restaurant.

We decorated golf balls so Daddy will always know which ball is his!

The girls drew pictures and made cards for Daddy

Happy Father's Day to two pretty terrific Dads!

My parents were up in Downers Grove this weekend to babysit the girls while Matt and I went to a friend's house for dinner. They brought up my old piano in a trailer. It took four guys to get that thing in the house. Just as they were setting it down for the final time, Matt somehow pulled a muscle in his back! Not the best way to spend Father's Day... in pain and not able to bend over. We're hoping it heals fast, so he can bend down to put socks on again soon! :(

The girls were happy they got to celebrate Father's Day with both Daddy and their Papa!

On Saturday night, Mama and Papa took them out to dinner at Steak-n-Shake. Definitely a fave! Matt and I had a great time with our friends at a "grilling party". Everyone had to bring a small plate to share, but it had to be something grilled. Matt brought these shrimp boil foil packs for our shared plate. He also grilled peaches to have as dessert with ice cream - delicious! We had some really good food... and drinks! :)

On Sunday morning, the girls gave Daddy and Papa their Father's Day gifts. Both Avery and Morgan had to open the cards they got for Daddy for him. They wouldn't let him open them because they were so excited to show him their cards! :)

Then, the girls had swim lessons. This was the first week Avery was in her new class and back with Morgan! I was a little worried that she wouldn't want to do all the new swimming moves they do in the next level up. The other kids in Morgan's class have all been in Level 2 for a little while, so they are all pretty comfortable with the Level 2 swim strokes. But, Avery did amazing! She had to watch Morgan do a few things first before she would do them, but she tried everything and kept up with the rest of the kids in the class. She had the biggest smile on her face when she finished the swim lesson.

Happy Father's Day

The girls are pretty lucky to have such a great guy to call Daddy! :)

The school did these little interviews with the girls and I just love reading what they come up with!

Morgan and Avery also made this apron with handprints at school for Daddy!

The girls have been asking to have picnics and go camping lately, For Father's Day, Morgan and Avery gave Matt a tent so they could camp out in the backyard. They are really looking forward to it!

A project for Father's Day

After ballet class last Saturday, we went to Home Depot for another one of their kids' workshops. The girls really enjoy doing these. This month's project was a trophy cell phone holder for dad. There was gluing and hammering and painting! The girls were so proud of the final product! :)
