This can't be comfortable!

This is how we found Avery sleeping one night. It's like she was sitting in her crib and fell forward and fell asleep. :)

Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day (a little late) to all the dads!

Especially mine! He's not only a great dad, but an awesome Grandpa! :)

And Happy 1st Father's Day to this guy!

He's an amazing dad and we are so lucky to have him!

Eight

The girls actually turned 8 months old almost two weeks ago and I'm just getting around to posting about it now.

We don't go back to the doctor until next month, so no updated stats. Although, I did take Avery to the doctor a few weeks ago and she weighed around 19 pounds with clothes/diaper on. The little faker had me thinking she had an ear infection. But, turned out to be just a cold. When we got to the doctor's office, she was all smiles and acting like nothing was wrong. She rolled around on the table and smiled at herself in the mirror. The nurse probably thought I was crazy for bringing Avery in. I had given her Advil, so she probably was feeling pretty good.

So, here's a little update on each of the girls -

Avery:
This little girl is really outgoing and smiles at strangers and loves attention. But, the second you put her in someone else's arms, she's a mess. She looks at us like we just handed her off to a monster! She eventually warms up to people, but it's a slow process.

She does not stop moving! Unless she's asleep, she's most likely moving. She can crawl, but prefers to scoot or army crawl to get where she needs to go. She has been trying to climb up on anything that is sturdy enough to hold her. We don't really have a lot for her to grab onto, so that usually means we are her jungle gym. Lately, she's tried to climb up on Morgan's back when Morgan's trying to crawl away.

We predict Avery is going to be the boss of Morgan. She's kind of a little bully. She pulls her around by the hair or helmet and steals her toys. Morgan is such a sweetheart and puts up with Avery's shenanigans right now. But, we are waiting for the day that Morgan gives Avery a big whack to the head. :)

Avery - 8 months old

Morgan:
She is doing great with her helmet and is over halfway through treatment now. I added a little bling to her helmet because everyone kept thinking she was a boy. The last straw was at Panera the other day after her doctor's appt... some guy was smiling at her as he walked by and said "hey there buddy". Ugh.

Morgan has 4 teeth coming in on the top right now (yikes!). The outside two have broken through before the middle two. I'm hoping she gets her two front teeth quickly so she doesn't end up looking like a vampire. She has been waking up at night crying and I think it's because of her teeth. Poor thing!

She's on the move these days. She can crawl on her hands and knees and move forward now. Before, she could only go backwards. She would just continue backwards until she ran into something.

This was probably the best shot

Ohio

We spent this past weekend in Ohio visiting with Matt's family. The girls did great on the long drive there and back. We timed the driving during their sleepy times, which helped. And we rigged up the iPad to show their favorite videos when they got antsy.

Sleepy Morgan - loves to pull at least one sock off

The trip was quick and busy! On Friday night, we went over to Molly and Eddie's house for a family get-together with pizzas and a bonfire.

On Saturday, we went to the Cleveland Zoo with Scott, Raygan, Gavin and Matt's mom. We all enjoyed seeing some animals and spending time outside. The girls took turns snoozing. Avery was awake when we visited the aquatics house and she loved seeing all the fish.

On Sunday, we had brunch with everyone and then spent the afternoon at Matt's uncle and aunt's house. The girls had a blast on the swings at the park near their house! Morgan had a serious case of helmet hair!

Rainbow

Saw this on my way home the other day

Somebody's trying to escape

I got this picture from Mary (the girls' nanny) yesterday. So... last night, Matt lowered the crib mattresses for both girls. Yikes!

We haven't really baby-proofed our house yet, but I think we're going to need to get on that pretty soon. These girls are getting crafty!

Thumb sucker?

Some babies suck their thumb. Some babies use a pacifier.

Avery has figured out how to do both at the same time.

I think this is because Daddy keeps not letting her suck her thumb and she really wants to. So, might as well stick the thumb in the pacifier. She'll show him!

Hey, whatever helps her sleep!

Vacay

We spent the long Memorial Day weekend up in Lake Geneva. It was nice to get away from the city, see some grass and trees, hang out with friends and relax with our little munchkins.

The girls loved taking walks around the resort and playing on the picnic blanket in the grass. They did surprisingly well traveling - thank goodness!

Once all the kiddos hit the sack, the adults played cards and had a few drinks (chocolate martinis = yum!). I think I may have had more alcohol in those few days than I did the whole rest of the month of May!

It all made for some very good times! :)

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was very nice! The girls got me some of my favorite things - flowers, wine and an electronic picture frame for my desk at work! I love watching all the pictures of them - especially the ones from the day they were born. I can't believe how much they've changed since then!

We spent the day relaxing. I even got to take a long nap! Perfect!

First trip to the zoo

While Matt was golfing a couple of Saturdays ago, the girls and I met up with Erin, Grayson and the grandparents at the Lincoln Park Zoo. I'm not sure they really paid much attention to any of the animals, but they loved being outside and seeing all the other kids running around.

The girls each took a turn snoozing and being carried around in the Baby Bjorn. Avery was snoozing during the carousel, so Morgan lucked out and got to ride it.

Avery LOVED being in the Baby Bjorn
She kept smiling at strangers

All that smiling makes a girl tired

Hello chubby cheeks

Not sure she was all that impressed by the carousel ride

We were quite a crew

Giraffes - not sure Avery can really see much in this get-up

That's better - at least we can see her eyes

Grayson had a blast hanging out with Grandpa
