Pie in the face

I love this video! Everyone was trying to get the girls to stand in and get the whipped topping in their face, but they just wouldn't do it. Beckett jumped in to do it with a big smile on his face. Then, he got the whipped topping in the eye and it was not as much fun anymore! What a silly game!

Chili Cook-off

We participated in a PTA fundraiser chili cook-off last weekend. When I say "we", I really mean "Matt". I made the sign for our table. :) But, he did the work. He made his smoked pulled pork chili for the cook-off.  Pulled pork smoked on the Green Egg, then chili cooked on the Green Egg smoked as well. Gives the chili an awesome flavor! There were definitely a few interesting chili options at the cook-off. Someone brought a white chicken and apple chili, which was actually like a chili mac with pasta. It was good, but just different than anything I've had before. It was fun for us to get out and meet some more parents from the girls' school. There were quite a few with kids in kindergarten and some from the girls basketball team.

Lucky #7
And the votes are in... Matt won best chili! Matt even got a trophy, which is now perched proudly on our mantle!

Snow Fun

Some fun playtime with our cousins outside in the snow last weekend. My parents were in town helping out with the boys, so Papa got to help with the shoveling and sledding.

We went sledding at a nearby park. Papa helped propel the girls down the hill!

This is the first time the girls had been sledding (unless you count the manmade hill of snow we made in our backyard last snowfall!)

B-ball

The girls are in a co-ed kindergarten basketball league this winter. We had our first game last weekend. I'm not sure they totally get the game or what they are supposed to be doing during the game, but they had fun. Avery even managed to score a basket, although she more enjoyed just cheering from the sidelines. :)

Fun times... she says sarcastically

Do you know what this is used for???

Well, if you don't, you are lucky! We unfortunately found out the first week back at school after Christmas break. Turns out, Morgan had picked up lice at school before break and it was in full force! And as she is such a nice little girl, she shared it with her mommy! Ugh. Avery managed to avoid the infestation, which may be due to a different blood type (according to the "lice lady"). I had no idea what to look for and didn't even realize Morgan had lice until I found a live louse on her head! Missed the whole egg stage and thought it was just a little extra dandruff. Ugh, again. So gross!

Did you know that there are people that come to your house and de-louse you? I did not, but it was a life saver! I could not have done this on my own. I would have missed some for sure! But, the "lice lady" Vivian came to our house and treated us all, even Avery got a head check and some coconut oil on her head. Vivian even came back three days later to follow-up and make sure we were still lice free. Now, we wait to see if anyone picks it back up from another kid at school. Vivian said it's bad when the school gets it because the kids just pass it back and forth. We are taking all precautions we can now. Of course, Morgan is a big hugger, so we have some work to do on that!

I have learned way more than I ever wanted to about lice during this whole process! I have also learned that schools don't get too worked up about it these days and don't even notify the parents unless there is like a huge outbreak. They don't even send kids home for lice anymore. No wonder it spreads like wildfire!

My child getting de-loused. Yuck!

With our lice treatments in our hair!

New Year's Eve

We hosted the Wilken's and the Buffo's again this year for a NYE party. Very laid back with make your own pizzas and glow sticks and fun accessories for the kiddos. I think the countdown and balloon drop happens around 7:00. :)

I just love this picture. Everyone except Frankie is in the picture. That's Beckett upside down in the back right. Morgan is dressed as Wonder Woman giving us the crossed arms with her bracelets on. Hunter has his tiger costume on. This is when we were watching the "countdown" on Netflix.

And here's a video of one of the balloon drops we did:

We used our instant mini-camera to take some pictures... so much fun! The kids called them "magic" pictures since they magically appeared over time. :)

This was the scene at our house the next morning... lots of laying around!

Christmas Break

This was the first year we've had a Christmas Break since the girls are now in kindergarten. Their daycare was always open during break before so we didn't have to figure out what to do with them. :)

We tried to get out and do some fun stuff when we could so we didn't get cabin fever! We spent a morning at the Enchanted Castle, which has a crazy amount of fun stuff for everyone. Tons of games, a mini bowling alley, some rides & bumper cars, laser tag, mini golf, go karts, play structure, etc! We had a blast!

Skee ball champ!

Largest Connect 4 game!

Huge fun play structure for the kiddos

Water break

Even stuff for the little kiddos

Black Light Mini Golf

Video bowling
We took a ride on the go-karts - I had not driven a go-kart for a long time! We had the track to ourselves so we were racing each other. We had the Jimmy John's car, which Avery was so happy about because she LOVES Jimmy Johns - ha! Morgan had the Batman car, which of course is right up her alley.

I took a video of Avery giving Daddy and Morgan some smack talk! (If you can't understand her munchkin voice, she says "Daddy, you know what's good about being in second place... NOTHING!" - gotta love that girl!)

Some other things we did over break...

Tea party with Avery's new tea set

LOTS of art projects

Roller skating class

They love roller skating!

Lunch with mommy at the Rainforest Cafe

Of course, Morgan loved the tigers

They couldn't believe it was raining inside the restaurant

Chairs with tails!

Also, went for lunch one day at the train restaurant

Your food comes out on a train right in front of you

Another skating outing - this time cousin Grayson came along
