Favorite Season

The girls had to write about their favorite season at school this week. I love the spelling! I will show them these when they are older! :)

I will translate. Avery loves...
Spring. I help my Dad plant flowers. I go help my parents pick out the flowers. Play in the grass.

Morgan loves...
Summer because I like rain. I can play outside. I like rain. Rainbows come.

Tea Party

The girls got "dressed up" and came down asking for a tea party. They even wanted a tablecloth and for me to wait on them. Ha! They acted like they were 40 and discussing their lives. Avery raved over the "crumpets" aka graham crackers and Scooby snacks. So hilarious!

Spring Break - Part 2

For the second half of Spring Break, we met up with the Wilkens at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee for some waterpark fun. It was definitely crowded and we even ran into someone from the girls' kindergarten class and basketball team. Morgan just absolutely loves waterslides. She is our daredevil. Avery loves the wave pool and stays away from the big waterslides (which is why I stick with her most of the time).

We got a cabana while we were there. The girls quickly figured out how to chi-lax in the cabana. :)

The girls also did the rock-wall climb. Morgan was surprisingly more scared of heights than Avery. Morgan liked climbing up and then repelling down more than just seeing how far she could get. Avery wanted to get to the top (that girl has a competitive streak!)

We also hit up the arcade. If you remember from the last time we were at Great Wolf Lodge, Avery won the big prize (1,000 tickets). Well, she was determined to do it again... and she did! She got so many tickets at the arcade that both girls got really great prizes to take home! Morgan hung out in the waterpark while Avery racked them up!

We went to the nightly story time and they asked for a volunteer... usually, this is Morgan's thing and Avery just watches. Well, Avery raised her hand super fast and got called up to the front. She's definitely changed! She even answered a question in front of all the people. And the best part was that because she volunteered to come up, we got to get our pictures with Wiley first out of all the kids there. Thank you Avery! :)

Definitely a fun and exhausting Spring Break! It was such fun spending time with the girls and seeing how much they've changed over the past year. I can't believe how old they seem these days... wish I could slow down time a little!

Spring Break - Part 1

This is the first year we've had a Spring Break with the girls now being in school. We decided to do a "staycation" this year. For the first half of Spring Break, we stayed in a hotel in downtown Chicago and did a few things in the city.

First, we visited the Children's Museum at Navy Pier. Right as we got there, Morgan complained of a tummy ache and was feeling pretty bad. So, I took her back to the hotel to rest while Daddy and Avery enjoyed the museum. They had a blast and even got to ride the city bus back to the hotel.

By the time they got back, Morgan was fine (thank goodness!) So, we swam at the hotel pool for a bit.

Then, we headed out to one of Avery's favorite places to eat... California Pizza Kitchen. There was one really close by our hotel. The girls scarfed down their food and then we hit up Eataly across the street for their first taste of true gelato. They declared it the best they've ever eaten. :)

The next day we had breakfast at the hotel and the girls had fun playing in the lobby area. They also did some sightseeing out the window of our hotel room with their binoculars.

We then went to the Shedd Aquarium right when it opened to avoid some of the crowds. The girls loved it all. We even lucked out at the water show and got a seat up front, so we got a great view of all the animals.

 

We then took a walk on Michigan Avenue. We stopped off at Dylan's Candy Bar and the Disney Store.

The girls got a chance to swim more at the hotel pool, after enjoying their treats from Dylan's. We could have just swam for hours... they loved it!

That night, we went to Rainforest Cafe for dinner. We have been to the one in Schaumburg, so thought the girls would love it. The one downtown is way disappointing compared to the one in Schaumburg. First, there are like tons of people waiting on the first floor and when you get upstairs there are tons of empty tables. So strange. And there are way fewer animals at the one downtown. The girls still had fun, so that's all that matters.

We finished off our downtown adventure on Wednesday morning at the Maggie Daley park. It was awesome! The girls had an absolute blast! We also walked over to the Bean. They were so exhausted after that we just headed back home. They told us they could not walk anymore after all that!

To prepare for our second half of Spring Break, we went for manis/pedis when we got back home on Wednesday afternoon.
