3 years

Avery is really excited that this year she is celebrating 3 years dancing with DPDC. They give out medals for the 3 year mark during the dance recital, so she's looking forward to that in a couple of weeks.

Memorial Day

Monday morning, Matt set up Morgan's new goal in the backyard. Here she is getting in some goalie practice.

Update on Morgan's face... still a little bruised from her bouncy house injury at Calvin's birthday party, but getting better!

On Monday afternoon, we went to the pool for a couple hours after lunch. It was so packed! We found 1 chair and then manage to snag another when someone left. There were a bunch of girls there from the soccer team, so Avery and Morgan played with them. We usually run into some friend of the girls when we go to the pool. I think most of Downers Grove are members!

Afterwards, Grandma Ruth came over and we grilled out. The girls showed Grandma their recorders and put on a concert outside. I'm sure the neighbors loved that! There was also a gymnastics show, a violin concert and some random showing off for Grandma! :)

Happy birthday Calvin!

We celebrated Calvin's birthday at his house with a fun party, complete with bouncy obstacle course, new trampoline with sprinkler, tons of watermelon, cake and good food!

This girl ate about 20 pieces of watermelon!

They look like they're flying!

Morgan chillaxin' in the obstacle course

Morgan and Grayson had a huge collision in the bouncy house... Grayson's knee slammed into Morgan's face! They were all bouncing around like crazy in there! It immediately started bruising, so we iced it up. You can't really tell here, but her left cheek was all purple by the time we left the party. She was so worried she had knocked her teeth out!

Everyone was exhausted on the drive home

Campout Part 2!

Everyone had such a fun time on our Friday night campout that we decided to repeat it on Saturday night.

Beautiful sky!

Chilly start to pool season

The pool we belong to opened for the season over the holiday weekend, after much uncertainty if they would be able to. The liner was being replaced and the work started last fall, but there were many issues along the way and it was finally finished a few days before opening. So, they filled the pool quickly, but the water didn't have time to heat up. It was pretty quiet on Saturday when we went to check it out for an hour. The water temp was about 62 degrees!

Mani/Pedi

The girls went to the nail place for manicures and pedicures. Avery decided this time she would get a French manicure. The nail tech even gave her little stickers for her fingers! Morgan went with light and dark purple shades. They love the massage chairs here!

Campout!

Since the weather was forecasted to be gorgeous, we decided to do a campout in the backyard. We set up the tent and brought in some mattresses and blankets. We let Milo in for a bit to see how he would do. Of course, he was crazy! But, he didn't know if he liked walking on the tent floor because it made a weird noise! He mostly stuck to walking on blankets and mattresses while he was in there. But he did love the cuddles!

We made dinner on the fire pit... hot dogs and s'mores!

Then, we sat around the fire and chillaxed. We even let Milo come out, on a leash of course. He didn't seem to scared of the fire, which is odd because he's like the biggest baby otherwise. He even tried to eat the hot coals that sparked out of the fire!

As it got darker, the girls told "scary" stories using this flashlight - ha!

Overnight, it got down to about 50-ish degrees, which I thought was perfect sleeping weather! We were all bundled up. Here's Avery all wrapped up in her blankets.

The next morning, we let Milo back in the tent with us for a bit and he loved it! He never misses an opportunity for attention!

Safety Patrol

The fifth and sixth graders at our school can be part of the Safety Patrol, which is where the students patrol the other students during the school day. They wear these yellow sashes and have assignments, like which part of the day and where/who they are watching. The fourth graders get to practice one day this year when all the current Safety Patrol go on a field trip. They spend one day shadowing the current Safety Patrol and the next day while they are all gone, they get to be on patrol! Morgan got assigned the morning arrival spot, so she had to be to school at 8:00 to make sure all the kids were good as they came into school. Avery was assigned a lunchtime spot, so she watched kids at recess. When I'm supervising recess and lunch at school, the Safety Patrol help by taking hurt kids into the nurse or bathroom. They also make sure the kids are following rules. They have to take a test to learn the rules (in case they don't actually know them already!)

I didn't get a pic of Morgan on her patrol, but since I was supervising recess I was able to get a couple of Avery on her patrol!

No cavities!

The girls went to the dentist Thursday morning. Both girls had no cavities! :)

Morgan even colored one of the tooth pictures (well, she had to stop mid-color to go into see the dentist)!

Winding down the school year

Just a couple more weeks left of school - yay!

Heading to school on Monday

For her final project in orchestra, Morgan had to put on a concert for her violin class. She had to make a program and pick three songs to play.

Sunday: Soccer and a piano recital

Sunday morning started with an early morning soccer game for Avery's tournament. Morgan helped out the team again.

The girls goofing off before the game

Morgan action shot!

They ended up winning 5-1. Morgan scored 2 goals, one was from a free kick (which I actually got on video!)

We grabbed some quick lunch, but didn't have much time before we had to get ready for Avery's piano recital. A few pictures of her before the recital...

Here she is playing her song:

The boys also played in the recital. Grayson had to leave early for a football game, but we got pictures outside with the other boys.
