The last few days

Thursday night, Matt and I went to the Holiday Bar and Grill for dinner... thanks to Chuck and June! Love that place!

Friday night, I met up with Hany and Erin for dinner at Sweetwater. Seems like forever since we got together and caught up.

On our way home, we saw one of the most awful things I've ever seen in real life. We were driving on Wacker drive and our light was green. We were in the middle lane of traffic and the car in front of us stopped. There was a girl walking across the crosswalk even though the light was green (and she had a DON'T WALK). I'm not sure if she had headphones on or what, but she had no clue that she shouldn't be walking. Well, a few seconds later, a car came driving through the lane next to us and didn't see her and hit her! The girl flew up in the air like a rag doll, head over feet and fell to the ground. She was not moving and Erin kept saying "oh my god, she's dead!" Some guy ran over and started slapping her and I guess he must have revived her, because a few seconds later, she was breathing again (it was cold, so we could see her breath). By sheer luck, there was a cop on the other side of the street that saw everything and immediately came over. The girl who hit her stopped her car, ran over and was hysterical. I would be, too. We were there for a few minutes, but then they started moving traffic again. We left before the ambulance came. We read online that she was taken to the hospital in serious-to-critical condition, but that her injuries were no longer life threatening. They cited the driver of the car for hitting a pedestrian, even though the light was green.

I always wonder how often people get hit by cars in the city. People walk across roads all the time without thinking. If someone in front of them goes, they think that it's ok to walk and just follow. Ugh, so sad.

On Saturday, I ran some errands in the morning and took a long snooze in the afternoon. We met up with Erin and Ross for dinner at Nano Sushi that night. Ross is like Norm from Cheers there... Linda, the owner, loves him!

And then, of course, today was game day. What a disappointment! We watched the game at the Purple Otter. Keely, Erin and I also played a couple games of Bananagrams during halftime. : ) We stuck around for the beginning of the next game... long enough for Matt to win the 1st quarter strip card game. Nice! Almost made up for the money we lost on the Bears game.

Feels like Friday... wish it actually was!

Yesterday, my friend from high school, JJ, was in Chicago for a seminar. It also happened to be her birthday, so Erin, Hany and I met up with her for dinner at Sweetwater. It was great to catch up!

The restaurant didn't have any candles for our desserts, so we didn't sing to her... which she was probably thankful for! ; )

I'm dragging today. I didn't sleep very well last night and then I got up early for bootcamp this morning. That class is getting harder each time and combined with the heat and humidity, it's kickin' my butt! We ran outside today around the block a couple of times and then did lunges up Lake street from Michigan to our gym. Awesome... now I get to look like an idiot in public, too. ; )

I may have been crazy at the time I agreed to this, but Erin and I signed up for the next session of bootcamp. So, it's not going to be over anytime soon. I'll be taking classes until I leave for Greece!

Speaking of Greece - I booked all of our hotels and am researching tons for the trip. I'm getting really pumped to go!

Let the countdowns begin...

37 days til Erin and Ross get married

40 days til Matt and I go to Greece

Weekend fun

Friday night, I went out to dinner with Hany and Theresa to Quartino. We had lots of yummy Italian food and wine... two of my favorite things! It was great to catch up!

On Saturday, I spent the day organizing the house and relaxing. Matt worked most of the day and then we hung out on the couch watching basketball for the rest of the night.

Sunday, Matt worked for most of the day again. I ran some errands and worked on my scrapbooks. I have the honeymoon one mostly done, now I need to start on the wedding. I made a trip to Michael's and spent about an hour there trying to decide what scrapbook materials to get. I'm sure I will be making another trip once I realize what I forgot!

On Sunday night, I bowled the best game of my life! I don't know how it happened, but I kept getting strikes... then, of course, I psyched myself out and left a frame open. But, I ended up with a 248!

And, in other bowling news, Ross had an awesome game at the same time I was... so we both celebrated with shots (courtesy of Erin). He ended up with a 193, which may be one of the best games of his life, too! Overall, a pretty good night of bowling! : )

Cheers!

Down the hatch!

Oh, and our old bowling teammate, Brandon (aka "Jesus") surprised us with a visit to the bowling alley last night. He moved to Denver a few months back, but is in town for business. Maybe he's our good luck charm!
