Catching up

We're keeping busy and trying to get outside anytime the sun is shining and it gets even a little warmer. We are SO ready for Spring at the Plothow house! When it snowed again the other day, Avery cried and said "I thought we were done with that!" Ha! I feel the same way, kiddo.

We went to a park near us and the girls ran around like crazy! The parking lot is a little way from the park, so we raced each other back to the car. When we got to the car, they both collapsed on the ground! Silly!

Out of the blue, the girls asked to have curly hair again. So, I put their hair in curlers the other night. Morgan made it about 10 minutes before crying that she couldn't sleep with them in her hair. She took all the ones out around the bottom, but left the ones on the top of her head. So, needless to say, her hair was a little crazy in the morning. Avery kept her curlers in all night and woke up looking like Shirley Temple.

Even after a day, Avery's hair was still super curly. Morgan needs some shades in this picture - the sun was bothering her. She wanted to wear her St. Patrick's day outfit a week early. I let the girls pick out their clothes for school and they come up with some pretty crazy outfits some days. As long as it is weather appropriate, I let them wear it.

We haven't had snow cones in forever! And the girls begged to have them last night. Still loving our snow cone machine from Uncle Brett!

Happy 70th to Aunt Amy

My aunt celebrated her 70th birthday this past week. My Dad came up and all his brothers and sisters came to Chicago to surprise her. They all have a weekly call on Saturday mornings for an hour to keep in touch since they live so far apart. To surprise her, they started their normal call and while she was at home on the call, they all showed up at her door! Then, we all came over later for a pizza lunch and cake.

Dr. Seuss week at school

Last week was Dr. Seuss week at school and each day there was a different dress up activity. There was bright colors day, crazy socks day, dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character and then they had a pajama day. The kids really get into fun stuff like this. It makes getting ready in the morning easier, because they are excited to go to school. Some mornings are rough and they just want to stay in bed (Morgan - I'm talking about you, kid!)

We went shopping for some Dr. Seuss costume inspiration. I thought the girls would want to be Thing 1 and Thing 2, but they weren't up for that. Morgan wanted to be Cat in the Hat and use some of Daddy's Halloween costume. Avery wanted to be Cindy Lou Who so bad! Ha!

Playdate

The girls invited a friend from school (Maddie) over to play at our house. Our first school friend playdate at our house. The girls had so much fun dressing up, painting finger nails, playing games and building a HUGE fort in their bedroom. They were so exhausted afterwards! It's too bad that the kids in their daycare class are all going to different elementary schools next year for kindergarten. They've made some really good friends at daycare. I'm sure they will make many new ones at kindergarten as well.

Speaking of kindergarten, we have the "kindergarten round-up" in mid-April. The school sent us all the paperwork to fill out before the round-up. There is quite a lot of paperwork and requirements to go to kindergarten! I'm curious to see how the eye doctor appointment goes. I was in 1st grade when I started wearing glasses (at that time it was for reading only). I have terrible eyes! Matt's eyes are fine. So, we'll see how the girls fare. Hopefully, they get Matt's genes for their eyes!

Dentist

The girls had another successful trip to the dentist. They both did great and had a blast playing with the water and suction straw. Ha!

Morgan is a little ahead of the game as far as her teeth are concerned. She's already lost two teeth and her 6 year molars on the top are almost fully in. She had been complaining of a headache and her mouth hurting. It hadn't occurred to me that she'd be getting her molars yet. But, Erin mentioned it and the dentist confirmed it.

Avery is the opposite. She still doesn't even have a loose tooth.
