8th Grade - First day!!!

Avery and Morgan are starting their last year of middle school! I can't believe they are in 8th grade! Not as nervous this year because they are old pros at the middle school! Although, this year the 6th graders are getting moved up to their middle school, so it's going to be a bit more crowded! They will have 900+ kids at their middle school this year!

And they're off... no bus pictures anymore. We're too old for that. Ha!

Morgan wrote this about 5 minutes before she walked out the door. She had late soccer practice the night before and didn't get this done. We are all big WNBA fans right now, so she has been focusing more on basketball. She still loves soccer, too! I love that she put 'anything' for favorite food! She loves food and will try most anything!

Of course, Avery had her board done the day before! She is still talking about becoming a forensic psychologist. She still loves dance and nail designs. She, Morgan and their friends love making fake nails to wear with all sorts of fun designs! Her first day nails are white with polka dots that match her phone case!

Last day of 7th grade!!!

Can't believe it's the end of 7th grade already! The girls did so well their first year of middle school. They adjusted well to the larger school, changing classes and met many new friends along the way. They are looking forward to the summer and hanging out with friends and spending time at the pool! We do have a few camps lined up and our annual trip to Michigan in July.

We picked the girls and some of their friends up from school and took them to lunch at Gia Mia.

We went next door to Every Day's a Sundae to grab some ice cream after lunch.

And to mark the most annoying 7th grade trend, they all did some 6-7 poses! :)

Middle School, here they come!

Tuesday was the first day of school. I'm not sure who was more nervous, me or the girls! This is a big change for them! New school, lots of new kids, changing classes, using a locker, riding a bus!

They said they had a great day! They made it on time to all their classes (well, except Morgan who had a little trouble in the morning with her locker combination, so the principal helped her out!) and even made a few new friends! Their bus was about 10 minutes late getting home, but that's to be expected on the first day. So glad it went well! We celebrated with our traditional trip to Cocomero for fro-yo!

Last day of 6th grade!

We made it! The last day of 6th grade is a big deal at our school... because it means you are heading to middle school next year! They have a nice breakfast for the kids and parents in the morning. And they do a "clap-out" after school (they clap the kids in when they start kindergarten, so we clap them out when they finish 6th grade). After school, some of the parents held a lunch picnic for the kids at a nearby park. So many fun activities!

At the breakfast, they handed out pins to all the 6th graders.

They also did a slide show. Each parent sent in three pictures.

The school put together these placemats with pictures from kindergarten on. So fun to see how much they've changed over the years! We also got a picture of the school as a "send-off" since we are leaving Whittier for good.

They had a selfie station for the kids to take pictures. They also brought this to the picnic afterwards.

It's kind of hard to see, but Morgan got totally knocked over in the tug of war! She's the one in the blue shorts sprawled out in the grass!

It was such a fun day! Oh and we had to make an impromptu visit to the orthodontist again today! Morgan lost a few brackets in the back of her mouth thanks to some peanut M&Ms! She actually swallowed two of them... oops!
