First Cubs game of the season

Last weekend, Matt and I went to our first Cubs game of the year. We thought by getting tickets in May, we'd have nicer weather... but, this is Chicago... what were we thinking?!? Rainy and cold - yep!  Actually, the day before and the day after were gorgeous, just not the day we were there. The game, on the other hand, was good. They ended up winning in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and a hit by Fukudome. Pretty fun finish! We stayed to sing the "Go, Cubs, Go" song and then it took us about an hour to get home.

Cinco de Mayo

Last night, Matt and I went with Ross and Erin to a Cinco de Mayo cooking class. We were on the dessert team and made Kahlua bread pudding. It was awesome! Other teams made salsas, guacamole, salad, and steak and fish tacos. The food was so good and we left stuffed!

Ross is a natural!

Party time

Every year after a big project is wrapped up at work, Matt throws a party at our place for the team.

They started off the night with huge martinis... dangerous!

And then, we busted out the karaoke games... omg!

Everyone sing!

This poor martini glass did not survive the party

I'm glad today it's crappy outside, so I don't feel so bad about veggin' out on the couch all day.

Quite a production

They poured the concrete on Upper Wacker on Friday. It was pretty cool to watch!

There were tons of workers

This was at lunchtime when they were almost finished

You don't see this every day...

An empty highway during rush hour
On my walk home from work Thursday, I noticed all the streets were blocked off and completely empty... except for the cops standing at every corner and parking garage exit. I thought it was pretty strange, especially because it was rush hour. I got to Washington and Jefferson and a cop told me I could not walk any further west, only north or south. He said Obama would be through in about 10 minutes, so I just waited it out a block from my condo.

Obama travels with quite an entourage. It was crazy! They had closed down the highway for him to drive through. I can only imagine how unhappy those people were that got stuck on the highway behind him!
