June wrap-up

A few weekends ago, the weather was perfect and we took total advantage of it!

The girls had lots of fun playing in the water on the back porch.

They are huge fans of these squirt bottles

We also walked up to the local carnival. I wasn't sure what the girls would think of the rides, considering they weren't big fans of the carousel at the zoo. But, they both rode on the little car ride. Avery spent the entire ride checking everyone else out like she was just waiting for something bad to happen. She did not enjoy it at all. Morgan loved it! When she would come around on my side, I could see her mouthing "Hi Mommy" with a big smile on her face! :) Morgan even rode it a second time, while Avery and I watched from a distance. Avery seemed to enjoy watching Morgan ride much more than riding it herself.

Checking out their height for the rides - Morgan is over an inch taller than Avery

Morgan had a blast on the ride

Avery's not so sure about it

Morgan picked the green Jeep the second time around

Then they picked fishies for prizes

And this is the prize - light up wands

On that Saturday night, Matt and I enjoyed the fire pit outside. So glad we got this thing - it's been awesome to sit out there after the girls go to sleep!

Wine + fire pit = awesomeness

On that Sunday, we BBQ'd with the Wilkens and the girls had fun playing with Grayson's toys and water table.

Avery with her sunglasses and sun hat - got to keep that pale head safe!

Catching up...

I'm trying to keep up with this here blog, but seems like I never get enough time! So, here we go, time to catch up! Let's see... we've been up to the same old stuff the past month or so. We've had some nice visits with friends and family. Made a few trips to the zoo and the park. Celebrated Father's Day with our favorite guy. Set up the water table for the hotter days (that thing is very much loved by the girls!) Learned to ride tricycles in the basement on the rainy days. Just typical stuff!

This is such a fun age with the girls! You just never know what will come out of their mouths. For two girls that hardly talked for the longest time, they are making up for it now. Avery never shuts up. If something is happening, she's narrating it to us. And she's started the "Why?" questions. It's "What you doing Mommy?" and "Why you doing that?" and "What that Mommy?" and "Why? Why? Why?" - yikes! Morgan is definitely quieter. But, when Avery isn't around, Morgan is much more talkative - she just needs the chance to get a word in!

We haven't started potty training yet. I just haven't been super motivated to do it. The girls are ready, but I think we're going to wait until after our summer vacations are over. Our deadline is by age 3, since they have to be potty trained to move up to the 3's classroom at school. So, I can't put it off much longer. They both know when they go to the bathroom because they tell me... always afterwards, though.

Now, for a picture dump from my phone...

This girl's eyelashes are crazy long!

Waiting in the wagon for the zoo to open!

Watching the giraffes - our favorite!
