Sammy Fund Weekend

The annual Sammy Fund golf tournament was the second weekend of October. We always drop the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's for the weekend and we spend the weekend in Quincy. This year, Matt took the train down early on Friday morning since the kids had school and he wanted to get in a little extra golf that day.

The girls love spending the weekend with Mama and Papa. The Sammy Fund seems to coincide every year with the Indian Summer festival in Springfield, which the girls really look forward to going to. There are crafts, face painting, worms, fairy houses, etc. at this festival. So, there's something for everyone.

While they were having fun with the grandparents, we were having fun in Quincy. I always get some shopping done, while Matt gets to play golf. There's usually a party at a friend's house that is a fun time, too. And we hit up the bowling alley for a gigantic pork tenderloin sandwich (well, Matt has that!) Matt always makes his famous Bloody Mary's before the golf tournament.

More birthday weekend fun

Since the weather was gorgeous the day after the girls' birthday, we decided to go to the pumpkin patch for some fall fun.

The jumping pillow is always a hit with the kids! They had a timer here, so each group was limited in number of kids that were jumping at one time. Nice idea... less injuries!

There were lots of animals to pet and feed.

They even had a bird area similar to the zoo, so we had to check that out.

Avery was a little shocked to get a bird!

I told her to just smile normally! Ha!

They had all kinds of these set up around the pumpkin patch. The girls loved this one since they are huge Hotel Transylvania fans!

We made Daddy get in this one with them... driving around his little pumpkins!

The one thing Avery wanted to do while we were there was play in a corn pit. She talked about it the whole time before we got to this pit! She loved it!

The girls decided to bury Daddy in the corn! We were finding corn everywhere after we left!

This was the "before" shot. This is a kids' haunted house that I got tickets for the girls to go through. They didn't even make it in the door! I opened the door for them and they freaked out. Avery just turned around and walked back and said "no way". Morgan REALLY wanted to go through, but was so scared. So, she stood at the front door and cried.

Luckily, we could use her ticket to ride a horse. This is much more up her alley!

After the pumpkin patch, we stopped off at another favorite of the girls for lunch -Yard House. They even got special treats for their birthday.

Of course, Morgan couldn't resist to destroy her happy birthday message!

Later that day, Grandma Ruth came over to give the girls their birthday gifts.
