Family Reunion - Part 2

On Sunday, we slept in a bit, swam some at the pool and then headed to Chuck and June's for more family reunion fun.

After the pictures, we went to the swimming area at the clubhouse. My aunt and uncle live on a golf course and they have this lake for swimming with a slide and some floating trampolines, mats, etc for the kids to play on.

The kids under 13 had to take a swim test to be able to go in the deep water. We were waiting on Matt to bring the swimsuits, so she did the test in her clothes. It involved swimming out into the water from the dock a ways and coming back (where the water was over their head). Then, they had to tread water for 60 seconds.

After swimming, we went back to Chuck and June's house and celebrated June's birthday.

We went back to the hotel after dinner and jumped in the pool for a few minutes. The boys all showed up as well, so we ended up swimming for a little longer. I can't believe the girls weren't falling asleep on their feet after this day!

Family reunion - Part 1

We left DG around lunchtime on Friday to head to Quincy for the Otte Family Reunion. We made it to the hotel around 5:00 and the girls immediately wanted to check out the pool! They swam for a bit, then we grabbed dinner at Texas Roadhouse. For some reason, Avery's order (a simple hotdog and fries) was on backorder and didn't arrive to our table until after the rest of us had finished eating. Like seriously could not figure out what was going on there! They ended up comping the hotdog. She will probably never want to go to a Texas Roadhouse again!

It was a rainy morning, but cleared up a little bit so we went to play Putt Putt before the reunion started for the day. They had quite a few water hazards and some fun ball-retrievers that we definitely got good use out of!

We went to Chuck and June's house for lunch and to hang out with everyone. We got Maid Rites for lunch, a Quincy favorite (loose meat sandwiches). Morgan and Avery loved playing with my cousin's kids, Charlotte and Madeline. It's been a few years since they've seen each other, but they picked up right where they left off last time!

There is a huge hill across the street from Chuck's house that the kids loved rolling down. Morgan ended up with tons of little cuts on her legs from the grass.

After lunch, the weather was still iffy, so we took a group of the kiddos to the hotel to swim. We had the whole pool to ourselves!

Back at the house, the kids had fun playing. Avery, Charlotte and Madeline played a dance game downstairs. They even recruited Calvin as their 4th!

A big storm rolled in and we had to play inside for a while. We broke out the Bingo game and prizes. Avery was the official caller.

Once we were sure the lightning had passed, the kiddos played in the downpour! They were soaked!

Due to the weather, the fireworks for the night were canceled. We went back to the hotel and the girls crashed!

Dance Team

Avery got invited to try out for the dance team at her dance studio.

She went for tryouts on Monday. She decided to try out for the jazz team only. You can try out for other dance types, but for our first year, we wanted to stick with one. There were a lot of girls at the tryout!

She was super excited to get the email saying she had made the jazz team! She will now be spending quite a bit more time at the dance studio, but she's looking forward to it! She has to take a jazz class, another class (which she's selected Acro) and then she has a jazz team rehearsal each week. They kick off the season with a bootcamp in August.

And we finally got back the dance pictures Avery had taken in May!

Here she is with Harper! They were the only two in the Saturday class, so when they took "class" pictures, it was just the two of them! :)
