Running on fumes

I don't think I've ever gotten this low on gas.

Swim Meet #1

The first swim meet of the season was an "A" team meet, which means it's the better swimmers, more competitive and you can get disqualified if you don't do everything correctly. In hindsight, I probably should not have said Morgan was available for this meet since it was very first time competing in a swim meet. But, lesson learned! She participated in a relay with 3 other girls - one from her school (Maebel) and then twins (Avery and Anna) that swim on the Hornets (a travel swim team). Their group came in first! She also swam the breast stroke and free style 50m solo events. She came in 4th in the breast stroke, but there were only four people in the race :). She was pretty upset to come in last in her solo events. I tried to explain to her that the swimmers she was up against had been doing this way more than one time! After talking to another mom, we decided that the "B" meets are more our speed, at least for our first swim team season!

Here she is - ready to go! They write their events on their arms in sharpie!

Here she is doing the free style in her relay. We need to work on the spin turns. She just got to the wall, stopped to see where the other people were, then started swimming again. Ha!

Dance team awards

We had to miss the dance team banquet because it was tech week for Cinderella. But, Avery got her awards at dance class tonight. She got a trophy for the "improvement" award! She also got the "Jazz Award", which we're not really sure what that means, but she's still excited - ha! And the other is an award that the team votes on for you based on your first initial... kind of like a fun little thing for the kids to do. She got "A-very Spectacular Dancer"... since her name was Avery! Cute!

Summer Camp

Summer camp is in full swing now! The girls are back at Avery Coonley this summer. We are doing all the sessions and they are signed up for some fun classes! The first session, they are both doing Podcasting. Avery is doing Lights, Camera, Action and Morgan is doing Writeology.

Ice cream celebrations!

Both girls deserved some celebratory sweet treats! Morgan's soccer team came in 1st at their tournament and Avery completed a long week of rehearsals, a piano competition and four shows for Cinderella! Now it's time for some ice cream... and some rest! :)

Cinderella - the final show

The final Cinderella show was for the other cast, so Avery was supposed to be the ensemble role. But, in the morning, we got an email that one of the other cast members was ill. They asked if Avery could come early and learn the role and fill in. She said yes, of course. When we got to the theater, we learned that the girl who was playing Joy in this cast was also ill and not coming. So, Avery got to play Joy again! They were down four castmates for the final show! The kids did great even with the hiccup!

Getting ready for the ball!

Stepsister's Lament -

A Lovely Night -

The show was great! Here they are doing their final curtain calls!

As always, Avery had a blast being a part of the show! A lot of the girls returned from the previous two shows she was in and there were new ones for this show that she became friends with! We are so proud of her and love watching her shine on stage! :)

Soccer Tournament - Championship game!

Morgan's team played in the championship game today against the team they had previously played and beat 7-0. Today's game did not go as well. They ended up tying the game 2-2 in regular time. They went to penalty kicks! Morgan's team ended up winning!
