Saturday sports!

Our Saturday started off with a drive to Streamwood for Morgan's soccer game. It was so hot and sunny! She played goalie the first half. It was kind of boring for her because the defense kept most of the balls away from her!

She had a few good saves, though.

Her team won 3-0 and played well. We grabbed some lunch at Portillo's on the way home. We cooled off in the AC for a bit before heading out for the next event.

Morgan had a softball game at 4:00. I dropped Avery off at Erin's house to hang out with Grandma and the cousins. She was tired of being in the heat and had already sat through two soccer games! Morgan played short stop in the 1st inning and had a great pop fly catch and play to first base. She pitched in the 2nd inning and had a rough time of it. I think she was more nervous because Grandpa was at the game and her teacher also showed up. She just couldn't string enough strikes together in a row. She walked some kids, some got hits and the other team got 5 runs, so the inning was over (5 run rule).

Morgan pitching

She sat out one inning, played center field and then short stop again in the last inning. Her team was losing in the last inning by 3 (another pitcher on their team had also had an inning with the 5 run rule). Since they were the home team, they got to bat last. Morgan got up and was hit by a pitch (the second time that happened to her in the game!). With that and some great base running, she made it around the bases and ended up scoring the winning run! Their team was really happy to have pulled it off at the end!

After the game, we celebrated Erin's birthday at the Wilken's with a pizza party! And of course, a big cookie bake!

Busy Friday night

After school, Avery had piano lessons. Then, we drove to Oak Park to see this LED light ballet that we heard about on Facebook. The show was interesting and not what I expected. It was less of a ballet production than I thought it would be and the dancers were not that great. There were five of them and they took turns dancing on the small stage. The five of them danced together at the end which was probably the best part, but they weren't very in sync, just kind of messy. I told Avery some of her dancers from her school could have been up there doing that! Anyway, the girls both thought it was cool and it's not like anything we've seen before.

Then, we headed back to Downers Grove to catch the second half of Morgan's soccer game.

Avery took a silly selfie on my phone - ha!

Morgan with her green shoes!

Her team lost pretty badly. The referee was young and wildly inconsistent with his calls. He even gave one of our players a yellow card on a questionable foul call. After the game, we grabbed dinner and crashed!

Under the weather

Avery was fighting off some random kid virus on Thursday. She started complaining Wednesday night after dance class and then woke up Thursday morning not feeling well. So, she stayed home from school and rested with Milo most of the day.

1st Rehearsal

The first rehearsal for Matilda was Tuesday night. There are a lot of younger kids in this show! Avery and Beckett had fun reading through lines and learning the songs. Can't wait to see the show!

Matilda Jr.

This past Tuesday night, Avery and Beckett auditioned for the next musical the Academy is doing (which is Matilda Jr.). Miss Haley is directing this time, along with Miss Caliegh and Miss Keely. Avery has previously taken voice lessons with Miss Haley and just loves her. The auditions went for about 1.5 hours and the kids took turns singing and reading lines for the various roles they wanted to audition for. They were also holding auditions on Saturday for people who couldn't come Tuesday night, so we had to wait until Saturday night to hear the casting decisions! We were really excited to see that both Beckett and Avery have great roles in the show! Avery will be the teacher Miss Honey and Beckett is Matilda's dad, Mr. Wormwood. We are looking forward to seeing them on stage together!

Indoor Skydiving

Avery's Girl Scout troop went indoor skydiving today at iFly in Naperville. Some of the girls were a little nervous at first, but they all had a blast! Here they are getting a safety lesson before flying.

Getting all the gear on.

Some official pictures from Avery's flight:

Here are some videos - they each got to go twice for a minute each time.

Afterwards, they got a certificate!

Group photo! We also took the girls to Starbuck's afterwards! Such a fun day!

A few family pictures

I have loads more, but just wanted to put a few here now.
