Mother's Day

We had a busy Mother's Day weekend with the dance competition and soccer games. I got to spend the weekend with my favorite people! The girls made me breakfast in bed (well, Matt made it, but they carried it upstairs into the room - ha!)

In my Dance Mom Era - ha!

Dog Mom - he's the biggest baby in the house!

Soccer Mom!

The girls and I grabbed an afternoon snack at Gia Mia after Morgan's soccer game. And then they got ice cream from Every Day's a Sundae.

It was beautiful weather and so nice to spend some time with the girls! :)

Showstopper Dance Comp - Saturday night

On Saturday night, Avery and Kendra did their duet. They were the first group to go in the last section of dances for the night. So, that meant she danced around 8:15, but had to stick around until 10:55 PM for the awards.

There was a piano in the lobby where the girls were waiting. So, of course, Avery had to play!

Avery cracked up that they got this picture right at this moment.

After she danced, we killed time in the restaurant. She was getting sleepy, so I got her a Pepsi. It didn't really help all that much. It was a long wait and we were getting tired.

They got Platinum, 2nd in category and 8th overall. They were only 0.2 points away from the 1st place dance, so the scores were pretty close!

Showstopper Dance Comp - Friday night

Avery's last competition this dance season was Showstopper last weekend. It was held in the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg. The schedule was a little different for this one. She did her group numbers on Friday night and the duet on Saturday night.

They started off with Turning Page, their lyrical dance. This dance comp changed up the backdrop depending on the song. It was pretty cool!

Then, they did their jazz dance, Thank U, Next. They were missing two girls from this dance, so they had to do some quick re-blocking before the dance. They still did a great job!

We had to stay until 10:55 PM for the awards ceremony. For Turning Page, they got Platinum, 1st in category and 6th overall. For Thank U, Next, they got Gold, 2nd in category and 5th overall.

Soccer tournament in St. Louis

Morgan's soccer team had a tournament in St. Louis over the weekend. We drove down on Friday afternoon. She didn't have any games until Saturday morning, so we got checked in and grabbed some dinner at the Soda Fountain restaurant near the hotel. Then, she hung out with some of the girls from the team, while the adults grabbed drinks at the bar. Avery had fun hanging out with some other siblings.

She noticed Dad had taken a drink of her shake!

We walked around Westport Plaza since it was nice outside.

Then, the weather turned nasty! It rained all day on Saturday. Game #1 was at 10:30am. Crystal was able to come watch the game with me (thanks to her for sitting in the rain with me!)

Look at how much bigger Morgan is than this girl!

They won the first game 2-0. Morgan played goalie the first half and in the field the second half.

I grabbed lunch with Crystal at the Trainwreck Saloon. It was fun to catch up with her. The soccer girls went to Panera for lunch. Matt took Avery to the Westport Social with some other parents. Then, we relaxed for a bit at the hotel.

The second game as at 4:45pm and it was raining even more at the start of the game. It did slow down off and on, but it was still just miserable. The girls lost 3-1. Morgan was goalie in the first half and they scored once on her.

After the game, we headed back to the hotel. Our coach also coaches the B2010 team and they had planned a team dinner for their team and ours at the hotel. Here's a pic of all the kids at the dinner. Lots of pasta, salad and bread were consumed!

Afterwards, we went to hang out in the bar. Avery, Colleen and Talia wanted to go check out the indoor pool at the sister Sheraton hotel. The only pool at our hotel was outdoor and it wasn't open yet. So, you could go use the indoor pool at the other Sheraton in Westport Plaza. To say it was crowded is an understatement. The girls weren't even sure they wanted to swim! They decided to get in for a bit.

At one point, all of the boys in the pool got out to do a group jump in.

The girls were like, um, nope.

We did not stay too long. They came back and played card games in the bar while the parents hung out.

We played Euchre and hung out for a bit. I took Morgan up to bed around 10:30. She had been playing bags outside with Lynnea in the rain!

The game on Sunday was at 10:30am. The weather was so much better today! The sun was even coming out off and on! The girls played a great game. The game was more physical and the refs were a little inconsistent in their calls. Morgan ended up body-checking a girl and got a yellow card. The ref wasn't going to give her a yellow card, but the parents of the other team were yelling so much, he did. The girls ended up tying the game at 0-0. Since we had lost one game already, we were out of the championship. It actually worked out ok because the girls weren't too upset since they didn't lose the game and the parents were happy we got to head home early! :)

Of course, before we left, Morgan had to get the funnel cake fries she had been eyeing all weekend.

We headed home, with a stop off at a Dairy Queen for lunch. We made it home by about 5:00 and were able to pick up Milo from boarding instead of keeping him there another night.
