More vacation fun
We spent a weekend in Indiana at Lake Freeman with the Klemme's. Lauren and Lee have a lake house and a boat there. Lauren's Dad also has a house right next to theirs, so we stayed in that. The weather could not have been any better! It was great to catch up with Lauren and the kids got along great! I'm not so sure her cat will want us back any time soon, as I think Morgan spent too much time playing with him (or in other words "terrorizing" it!) We need to get that girl a pet so she won't go crazy every time we go somewhere there are animals.
The kids playing "chicken" on the lily pad. Taryn and her friend (the 10 year olds) vs. Cole, Avery and Morgan (the 6 year olds).
When we got back to the house, Lee grilled out. After finding out the girls didn't know how to ride bikes without training wheels, Taryn was determined to teach them. Of course, Morgan was more interested in the cat and the bugs than riding a bike, so that was a lost cause. But, Avery was a willing student. And in no time at all, Taryn had taught Avery to ride a bike. I'm not even sure how, because I wasn't really watching. I just noticed all of a sudden that Avery was riding the bike by herself across the yard! Avery was really excited!
The next day, we grabbed breakfast at a nearby place before heading back home. Avery had such a blast hanging out with Taryn. She was so sad we had to come home!
And in something I will file under "Strange things you see in Indiana", this restaurant had an actual stuffed lion in the front! So, of course, we had to get a picture next to it.

Vacation - Heading home
It's always a sad day when we have to pack back up and head home. Morgan and Beckett got in a little more Pac Man before we hit the road. Such a fun week! Til next year, New Buffalo!
Vacation - Day 7
On Saturday, we spent the morning at the splash park/playground. We go here every year to take family pictures in front of the New Buffalo sign.
Nolan took over Brett's camera and we ended up with a lot of pictures of Avery. :)
Time for some family photos...
When we finished this, Morgan was really tired and wanted to relax at the house. Avery and I met up with everyone else at the Hesston Train Museum. We got there just in time to ride the mini-train with the rest of the crew. Since not everyone could fit on the train, a few of us waited for the rest of the crew. And we waited and waited... and waited! Turns out, their train derailed! The last few people on the train (including the worker, Mama and Beckett) tumbled off! Avery was in front of Beckett and managed to stay on the train luckily. And then after my brother helped the workers lift the train back on the tracks, the train either ran out of gas or the guy flooded the engine or something. That part is still a mystery. Apparently, they told my mom this is only the second time the train has derailed in 30 years. I'm not buying that! So, after they finally made it back around to the depot, we grabbed some ice cream.

When we got back to the house, there was a deer in our front yard eating. This deer was not really that scared of the little rascals trying to get closer and closer to it. It eventually ran off.
After grabbing some lunch, the girls wanted to go jump at the trampoline thing at the outlet mall. Avery had been there before, but Morgan hadn't so she was really wanting to do it before the vacation was over.
