LCA

At summer camp, Avery took the LCA (Lights Camera Action) class the first session. The kids put together two movies from start to finish - one silent movie and one with sound.

Haunted Hotel

Detention Trouble

I personally love the bloopers! :)

They present the movies to the whole camp and parents on the last day of the session. Afterwards, the kids each say what role they played in the movie productions and answer questions from the audience.

Dance Team Show

The Competition Dance Recital was on Thursday night. The first hour was all of the solos the dancers had worked on. After that, they did the group numbers. Avery did her dance "Let's Ride" with the Junior Jazz Team.

Here she is in her warm-ups, ready to go!

Here is Avery in the closing number!

When we got home, we took a few pictures and Milo kept photo bombing!

Now, it's time to retire the red "Let's Ride" costume! Here's to a great first season with the Dance Team!

Summer Book Club

Morgan's teacher holds a summer book club for kids that are interested in reading. We ordered the book and Avery read it and participated in the book club. It ended up being a small group, but she had a lot of fun! They met up at the park with Mrs. Lyons. She had games, snacks and activities for them to do. Hopefully, more kids will be able to join next time!

Here is the book they are reading:

Dance recital rehearsal

After the rehearsal, they give all the dancers a card with their recommendations for the next year (what level of classes you should take). Avery is on the bubble because she fits into the "Junior" age range, but also could move up to "Teen" because she turns 12 during the season. So, we were curious to find out what level they would assign her for next season. She found out they moved her up to Teen and also moved her up a level for Acro class! She plans to try out for the Teen Dance Team this year!

Swim Fun

We went to the pool to cool off a bit before dinner on Tuesday night. When we got there, a few girls from Morgan's soccer team were there and another showed up shortly after. They had a blast playing games in the lower pool. They even had a diving competition with various categories for their dives. Since Avery doesn't like going off the diving board, she nominated herself the judge of the dives!

We ended up staying until close and eating a late dinner!

Soccer Regionals

Morgan got asked to play up in the US Soccer Club Regionals with the 2011 Select girls team. They play 11 v 11 and on the bigger field. Of course, it was like 1000 degrees this weekend!

The first game ended with a 0-2 loss. After the game, she and Dad stopped off at Dairy Queen for a cool treat!

On Saturday, it was another hot game. Avery was being a rock star cheerleader in the heat, so we had to stop and get her a Kona Ice! She got the refillable cup!

Game 2 ended in a 1-4 loss. They were playing all the best teams from other states.

The third game was again super hot, so we used Avery's refillable cup to get another Kona Ice. :)

Luckily, the field they played on had some shade for the parents and kiddos (except for Lynnea's mom who sat in the sun/heat by herself!) Morgan is #2 below in the picture. This game ended in a 4-4 tie.

After the game, we let Morgan take Avery's refillable cup and get herself a Kona Ice!

Team picture!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to this great Dad! The girls even let him pick where to eat lunch (this is always a huge discussion each weekend!) We grabbed lunch at Bryan's before heading to Morgan's soccer game in Libertyville! It was super hot again, but he did get to spend some time at the pool cooling off later.
