Spartans win! (Herrick vs Jefferson 30-6)

Morgan's middle school basketball team played against Jefferson on Monday night. Their main coach (Cole) was at a funeral, so the 8th grade coach (Gillette) filled in.  Morgan wasn't a starter this game. It was another blowout. In the second half, the girls had to play off and pass the ball around before shooting to keep the score down and try to let the other team score. I only got one picture from warm-ups of Morgan going in for a layup.

Team MC takes 1st place!

Morgan's travel basketball team had a shootout tournament this past weekend in Romeoville. There were only three teams in their division this time. Morgan is #66 in these games because there's another girl with her same jersey # for now. It's the offseason and new uniforms haven't been given out yet to the new players and one of the other girls has #30 just like Morgan.

They won the first game 25-17 vs Fox Valley Force 13U.

They won their second game 27-14 vs OTE White 13U. This team had 6th and 7th graders, so they had some really small kids compared to our girls!

They came home with some hardware! :)

Coach Frankie, Madeline, Antonia, Cate, Ella, Emily, Morgan, Clara, Gabrielle, Coach Olympia

This pretty much wraps up the "fall" season of Team MC. The winter season starts in November and that's the main season for this league. Team MC plays in the DYTBL (Dupage Youth Travel Basketball League). This season they have enough players to make two teams of eight, so they split the girls up into Gold (higher) and Maroon (lower). The girls will still all practice together, but will be in different divisions for the league play. Coach Frankie will coach the Gold and Coach Olympia will coach Maroon. They sent out the team split and Morgan is on the Gold team along with Madeline, Clara, Emily, Frankie, Gabrielle, Molly and Samantha. The Maroon team has Ella, Maebel, Arianna, Char, Malani, Antonia, Nadia and Ellie. Looking forward to the season!

Mall day!

I took the girls and a friend to the Oak Brook Mall for some shopping and lunch. Of course, our first stop was Starbucks! :)

Avery and Caroline did a little shopping on their own while Morgan and I walked around. As we were walking by this Clinique display in the courtyard, they asked Morgan if she wanted a picture with the giraffe... of course, she said yes! :)

Twins???

Avery and Morgan got new hoodies for their birthday... but Dad was a little jealous. I think he wants one of his own! :)

Spartans win! (Herrick vs O'Neill 34-14)

Morgan had her first middle school basketball game on Thursday after school. They played against the other Downers Grove middle school, O'Neill. She got to start the game, but didn't do the jump ball.

O'Neill was not very good, so the game wasn't too competitive. At halftime, we were up 19-0.

After halftime, Morgan's coach made them pass the ball 7 times before shooting and also had them back off on defense to let O'Neill shoot a few times.

The final score was 34-14. Morgan sunk a 3-pointer so she was happy! :)

FACS Pillow Project

In FACS (like Home Ec), the girls had to sew a pillow. Avery picked to do the decorative pillow and we bought this fabric a week or so ago from Hobby Lobby. Here she is with the finished product! She had some leftover fabric, so her teacher let her make a mini pillow, too!

And here is Morgan's pillow... it's a beach theme so she can put it on her bed.

Soccer rematch

Morgan's soccer team played against the GFC 2012 girls on Tuesday night. The last time we played this team, Morgan's team lost. But, they should have won by a lot! This time, they kept it together and won 4-1. Much better outcome!

Before practice on Monday, Morgan realized she only had one cleat. Ugh! She somehow lost the other one after practice on Thursday night. So, before practice on Monday, Matt and Morgan made a stop at Soccer 2000 and picked up a new pair of cleats. Some of the girls on her team think her shoes look like those bomb pop popsicles!

Hard to tell here but Morgan is attempting to head butt the corner kick into the goal... no luck
