It was crazy hat day for a spirit day for school. Here they are in their "classroom" on Zoom with their hats. A lot of kids participated, so it was fun.
Later that day, the girls had their 8 year old check ups. Morgan is 52.75 inches tall, 56 pounds and Avery is 51.5 inches tall, 58 pounds. Just for reference, I was 54 inches tall and 58 pounds at 8 years old. The only major thing to come out of the doctor's appointment was that we learned Morgan probably needs glasses. She failed the eye exam the pediatrician does. Avery did ok, but did miss some letters. So, looks like we'll be making a trip to the eye doc soon!
Around their birthday, we looked at a lot of baby pictures and watched old videos of them in their younger days. We all got a big kick out of it! And I went back and read the posts I made at their milestones and birthdays to compare to how they are now.
Morgan was always the silly, active, sensitive girl that she is even more today! She has developed a little more shyness around speaking in front of groups or being the center of attention. She doesn't like that at all. She even gets nervous speaking to her class on Zoom calls sometimes. She loves playing Horse Riding Tales on her iPad. She loves all things Spirit Riding Free and wants us to call her Lucky (the lead character's name). She still loves playing Mario on the Wii and watching other people play Mario on YouTube. She and Avery are obsessed with Legos and have built a Lego city in the basement. Her new obsession is soccer! She loves playing it and really seems to have a good feel for it.
Avery has changed a little more because she was always the shy one that would sit back and check things out before jumping in. But now, she's not as reserved. She loves being on stage and being the center of attention! She does YouTube videos for her "followers" constantly (she does not have an actual YouTube channel... she pretends) She starts most sentences out "Hey guys, today we are..." and then details what we are doing. Seriously, this happens all the time! We get in the car: "Hey guys, today we are going to Target with our mom!" We make cookies: "Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how to make cookies with my mom's help!" She is still our princess and girly-girl... that has NOT changed! She just started back up at ballet and is loving that!
By the way, we pulled out all their clothes and shoes from last winter and looks like we're going shopping. The girls feet have grown at least a size and a half! They are walking on skis. :) And they've grown quite a bit, so their pants and some shirts are too small. They can still wear the same size in most shoes and clothes, so we're lucky that they can share.
