Saturday morning started off with an early game for Avery's team (White). They lost 0-4, so it was a disappointing game. The coach of Avery's team is more "vocal" during the games and yells at the girls quite a bit. So, she was pretty upset after the game, as were a couple of other girls. We told her that not all coaches "coach" the same way and she's going to have all sorts of coaching styles to deal with. Her team does have a lot of newer players and they are still learning their positions and where they need to be on the field. They also switch positions quite a bit, so that makes it difficult as well. Grandma Ruth was able to join us for the game! (no pictures of this game!)
After lunch, Morgan had a Black#1 team game on the Jefferson Jr High turf field. This was a really tough game and they ended up losing 0-2 (their first loss!). Morgan had a couple of shots, but nothing would go in. It was a more physical game, as the ref was allowing a lot of pushing. I still don't understand the fouls and why some are called and some aren't. I feel like it's subjective to what the referee deems for each game. The referee even got in a "discussion" with the other team's coach during the game (which later the referee joked to us was basically a big temper tantrum by their coach). Morgan has become much more deliberate in her pushing and is going to end up in trouble one of these days! The parents were joking that they'd put money on Morgan being the first girl to get a yellow card in a game. Um, I really hope not!
