Vacation: Kayaking, Beach Time, Homemade Ice Cream

Another fun day! The kids played a lot of games together on their iPads.

After breakfast, we went kayaking. We had to do it in two groups because kids under 14 have to go with an adult. So, all the kids had to have an adult, which meant Ross had to go twice. The first group was Calvin, Nolan, Hunter and Beckett. Then, the second group was Calvin, Grayson, Avery and Morgan. It was mostly good except for when Brett was trying to get out of the dock area for the second session, he totally capsized with Calvin in the boat. The boat flipped over on top of them! Luckily, Brett could touch the ground and was able to get Calvin back up on the dock and everything fixed quickly! That, of course, freaked Avery out, so we had to be extra careful for a while until she got comfortable in the kayak.

There was even a bald eagle and nest on the route.

After we got back, all the kids wanted to check out the beach. The beach was about a 10 minute walk from the house, which was great.

This picture of Morgan is super funny. Erin took it from above where the beach drops off, so it makes Morgan look really funny. I think she was sitting down as well.

Avery likes sitting on the beach more than swimming in the lake.

Then, the kids decided to get all sandy and jump back in the lake.

The water was really calm this day.

We came back to the house and hosed them all off. Then, they told stories in the hot tub.

Papa made his famous homemade ice cream in the afternoon. All the kids had to help if they wanted to eat any!

On Monday night, Ross deep fried tenderloins. We always eat really well on vacation!
