Weekend activities

We kicked off the indoor soccer season with a super early game on Saturday. We had to leave the house by 6:45 AM. Morgan's team won 2-1. She was feeling a little under the weather and came home and slept for three hours! But, she was much better after that.

Avery had her annual dance team holiday party that afternoon. All the dancers swap ornaments with their dance siblings, play games and have pizza.

On Sunday, Morgan had a Team MC basketball game (her travel team) at Montini. She and her team played really well. She got fouled a lot and ended up shooting 14 free throws (12 of which were in the first half!). Of course, she's still working on her free throws, so she only made 3 of them. Her team only had two subs and the other team had four subs. So, even though the teams were pretty evenly matched, the other team had an advantage. Morgan's team ended up losing.

After the game, we grabbed a quick lunch at Subway and then headed to her park district basketball game at the rec center. She's missed a few of the park district games because they always conflict with her Team MC games. Such a difference in the level of talent in the travel team vs the park district team. I can already see an improvement in Morgan's playing from the first park district game to this one. I think playing in these games gives her a confidence boost! She played great! She shot three more free throws in this game and made two of them! She also had multiple steals and some fast breaks and scored over half of her teams' points. They won by a large margin. The girls also pulled off a baseline play they had been working on and the coach promised them donuts! (Their team name is Dunkin' Donuts!)

And here's video of the baseline play they did that earned them donuts. Morgan is the one that runs down and shoots the ball. You can see how excited the coaches and the rest of the team got when the play worked! :)
