I need to try harder...

To make some posts on this blog!

I will give a quick update of what's been going on around the Plothow household with some pictures.

The girls enjoyed their first Valentine's Day with a fun brunch at Theresa's house. Actually, they slept through a lot of it. But, they sported their heart tops and heart tights! And some cute hats and booties knitted by a friend of ours from work.

The next weekend, we got a visit from Grandma Ruth! The girls always love when the grand-folks visit because they get lots of love and attention! Don't mind the slobbery bibs - the girls are going through a major drooling phase these days!

And just some other random pictures from the past couple of weeks...

We get lots of smiles these days!

Close up!

Tummy time for Avery - it's rough holding up that big melon!

Morgan has started loving the Exersaucer now too!

The girls love to grab each other's hands

This is what happens when Avery is done with tummy time

Avery says "you WILL hold my hand!"
Morgan's not so sure

We got a couple of these cool bottles to test out - makes feeding two kiddos at once a lot easier

Our Valentine is the best! He got the girls and I these beautiful flowers, which are making the house smell so nice today! Thanks babe! The girls and I love you so much! :)

A couple of random pics

Avery - 4 months
Morgan - 4 months
When I left for work this morning, Avery was talking so loudly that I could hear her while I waited for the elevator down the hall! Sometimes I wonder what is going through her head. Morgan was snoozing, un-phased. :)

Weekend

Catching some Z's
This is what happens on Monday morning after a very busy and fun weekend! Two very sleepy little ones! Usually, I play with the girls in the morning before the nanny gets to our house. Monday morning, the girls made it about 10 minutes and were zonked!

They did miss a few naps over the weekend, so what can you expect. There was a lot going on!

Grandma and Grandpa visited to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. The guys hit the Auto Show on Saturday while the ladies went to the Lincolnwood Mall for some shopping. It's a different experience shopping now. I head straight for the kids stores. Little girls clothes are so much fun to shop for. Of course, I hate to spend much money on clothes they only wear once or twice and then grow out of. I managed to get out of the mall with only two pairs of pink jeggings for the girls. I couldn't pass them up! The best part about the Lincolnwood Mall is that it's right next to an Olive Garden... yum!

After shopping, we all met up at Haymarket for a few drinks. We got a super delish dessert for my dad's b-day and sang happy birthday to him!
This bottle didn't stay full long!

Saturday night, Grandma and Grandpa babysat for the girls so Matt and I could have an adult night out! We went to Bub City to celebrate Kari's b-day. Good food, fun times and maybe a little too much whiskey for the hubby. :)

On Sunday, we met up with the folks and Ross and Erin at Garcia's for lunch. Then they had to head back to Rochester.

Sunday night the bowling league started back up. DeezNuts is back in full force this year! We have 6 people (Sandi, Brett, Ross, Erin, Matt and me) that are going to rotate bowling so that someone can stay home and watch the kiddos. It's been a long time since I bowled, so I was a little rusty. But, it was fun to get back to the lanes.

We are 4 months old!

I can't believe the girls are already four months old! They've made a lot of changes in the past month and it's been such a fun time watching them grow into such different little people.

Avery at four months
Avery
Weight: 13 lbs 7 oz (approx 30th percentile)
Height: 24 in (approx 30th percentile)
Head: 41.2 cm (approx 75th percentile)
What she's up to these days: Well, obviously, she's eating well! The girl is really making headway at catching up with her younger (yet bigger) sister. And what's up with her head size??? :) Avery spends most of her time with her hands in her mouth. When she gets a hold of something, it also goes straight to her mouth. Her favorite things right now are the Exersaucer (she is hilarious in that thing - she keeps finding more toys - it's like sensory overload!), the swing (because we rigged up some toys hanging from it that she loves to grab) and the playmat. She hasn't made a complete roll yet - she keeps getting stuck on her side. But she rocks around and scoots herself completely off the mat trying. She loves looking at Morgan and trying to figure her out. She will grab Morgan's hands and feet and smile at her. Avery still hasn't decided what to think of bath time. She looks at me confused like "what is this stuff?" when I put her in the tub. For the first few minutes, she tries to keep as much of her body out of the water as possible. She gets herself in a V-like position and sticks her feet and head up in the air. She's nuts! Just recently, she has started full out giggling. It's so cute, because her whole body moves along with her giggles!

Morgan at four months
Morgan
Weight: 14 lbs (approx 50th percentile)
Height: 24.75 in (approx 75th percentile)
Head: 40.7 cm (approx 60th percentile)
What she's up to these days: Morgan continues to be a very chill baby. She fusses when she's overly tired or hungry, but is usually full of smiles these days! We found out about a month ago that her noisy/raspy breathing was due to laryngomalacia (aka a floppy larynx). She had started having some problems choking while eating, so we had her checked out. Most babies grow out of it by a year old. Of course, a few weeks after we took her to the ENT, she started sounding better and having less problems eating. Go figure. Looking at those cheeks, she obviously doesn't have any issues getting enough food! Morgan is very strong and loves to grab our hands and stand up. She has rolled from her tummy to her back, but not the other way around yet. She loves the playmat and coos at the toys hanging above her. She's not so sure about the Exersaucer yet, though. Her coos are much quieter and in a deeper voice than Avery's loud screeches. She loves bath time and starts kicking her legs the second she gets in the water. She pretty much never sits still the whole time she's taking a bath. She also is giggling and when she does, her eyes flutter - so cute to watch!

Every day I think how lucky we are to have these little girls! I love walking in their room in the morning when they wake up... they are all smiles and SO excited to see us! Their little legs start kicking and arms flail about and they start cooing at us. It probably has nothing to do with us, but more that they know they are about to be fed, but whatever - I love it! Ha!
Daddy's breaking up fights already!
Working on their "Who me?" looks!
"Umm, get her off me please"
Getting so big!

Future scholar?

The girl loves to "read". Apparently, this book has a lot of screeching in it. Ha!
