December - Part 1

December was another crazy month! We have been having drainage issues in our front yard since we moved in. Matt kept nagging our builders and they finally fixed it. So, we no longer have a moat! Matt and I went to Las Vegas for a long weekend to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We had a blast and the girls had fun hanging with Papa and Mama (which are the current names we have for Grandma and Grandpa).

Bring on the equipment

Such a mess!

They even had to dig up our neighbor's yard - ugh

Finished - luckily they sodded after this so it's not just mud

Some of our many drinks while in Vegas - yum!

November

Such a busy month November was! Erin and Ross brought Beckett and Hunter home and moved out to Downers Grove (all in the same week)! We had lots of fun in Ohio for Thanksgiving and the girls got to play in the snow! When we got back to Illinois, we got our first real Christmas tree and decorated it. Here are a few pictures from my phone...

More flowers of the month - pretty!

Matt had been grilling out a lot!

Thought this was cute
Morgan took off her doll's shoes and put them
next to Matt's by the front door.
: )

Morgan got Roseola and was super sick
But she still hung on to the Playdoh!

Hunter and Beckett came for a visit while Erin and Ross moved to DG

Morgan wanted to get in on the feeding action

We set up a play area in the basement - the girls love artsy stuff

Papa was keeping Morgan company when she wasn't feeling well

The girls love dolls!

A favorite game around our house

Walking on Daddy's feet never gets old

Gave her two wine bags from the liquor store
This is what she did with them

Stylin' on our ride to Ohio

In shock that she saw herself in the phone

Grandma Ruth got the girls aprons - adorable!

It snowed in Ohio over Thanksgiving

The girls got to try out their new snow boots

Had a blast running through the snow

Playing with Grandma Ruth

Such divas - not kidding, they picked their seats themselves

Playing with Papa and cousin Nolan

Papa helped us pick out a Christmas tree

The girls were so excited to help put it up

We used Papa's truck to haul it back to our house

It was huge!

Girls loved decorating it

And decorating themselves

Hard to see, but our first snow storm!

2 Year Update

We took the girls for their 2 year check-up the day after their birthday, so this post is way overdue. But, since I use this blog as their baby book, I wanted to get some info on here before they turn 3. :)

2 year old stats:
Morgan - Weight: 30.8 lbs (90th %tile) and Height: 35.5 inches (90th %tile)
Avery - Weight: 31.4 lbs (93rd %tile) and Height: 34.25 inches (63rd %tile)

For comparison, I was 38 inches at 2 years old and weighed about the same as Morgan does.

These two girls are not only different in looks, but they have very different interests and personalities. It's so much fun watching them grow into the crazy toddlers that they are!

Morgan is our tomboy! She loves running, climbing, playing with matchbox cars and doesn't mind getting dirty in the name of fun. She has a great time when cousin Grayson comes for a visit. They are like two peas in a pod! But, she also will play with baby dolls and put on a tutu and dance around the room with her sister. She is outgoing and loves to play with other kids; they dubbed her the "social butterfly" at daycare. She has recently developed a fear of loud noises and animals. Not that long ago, she was in love with every dog we saw and would get upset when we had to stop playing with them. Not anymore. She was terrified when we went to the petting zoo! Something we love about Morgan is how sweet she is with her sister (when they aren't fighting over a toy, of course!) It's just little things like if we set out two cups of milk, Morgan will grab one and take it to her sister before grabbing her own. If Avery is crying, Morgan will go over to hug her or rub her back. I hope they always stay so close!

Avery is definitely a girly-girl. She loves baby dolls and pushing them around in strollers and putting them to "ni-night". She loves all things artsy - coloring, painting, play-doh. She is very wary of new people and takes a while to warm up in new situations. She wants to do everything herself - putting her clothes on/taking them off/brushing her teeth/you name it! She is in an "asserting independence" stage - ha! And she can throw a tantrum - she is SO dramatic! At daycare, she is the "motherly" one. They tell me at nap-time she helps the teachers put all the other kids to bed before laying down for her nap. Surprisingly, Avery is a little daredevil and loves to be scared. One of her favorite games to play with Daddy is "chase". They chase each other through the house and while she's trying to catch up, he'll hide and jump out and scare her. She LOVES it!!! Immediately after being scared, she says "more chase". Just like Morgan is with Avery, Avery loves her sister and is so sweet with her. If Morgan is crying, Avery will run and get Morgan's favorite monkey to console her. I love watching the two of them together!

After a slow start, both girls are saying more words and are stringing words together in sentences. Avery has a larger vocabulary of understandable words. Morgan says a lot, but we're not always sure what she's saying. The bad thing is she'll say the same thing over and over and look at us like "why don't  you understand me?". She chatters a lot and we keep saying that once she actually learns the right words, we won't be able to shut her up!
