We took the girls for their 2 year check-up the day after their birthday, so this post is way overdue. But, since I use this blog as their baby book, I wanted to get some info on here before they turn 3. :)
2 year old stats:
Morgan - Weight: 30.8 lbs (90th %tile) and Height: 35.5 inches (90th %tile)
Avery - Weight: 31.4 lbs (93rd %tile) and Height: 34.25 inches (63rd %tile)
For comparison, I was 38 inches at 2 years old and weighed about the same as Morgan does.
These two girls are not only different in looks, but they have very different interests and personalities. It's so much fun watching them grow into the crazy toddlers that they are!
Morgan is our tomboy! She loves running, climbing, playing with matchbox cars and doesn't mind getting dirty in the name of fun. She has a great time when cousin Grayson comes for a visit. They are like two peas in a pod! But, she also will play with baby dolls and put on a tutu and dance around the room with her sister. She is outgoing and loves to play with other kids; they dubbed her the "social butterfly" at daycare. She has recently developed a fear of loud noises and animals. Not that long ago, she was in love with every dog we saw and would get upset when we had to stop playing with them. Not anymore. She was terrified when we went to the petting zoo! Something we love about Morgan is how sweet she is with her sister (when they aren't fighting over a toy, of course!) It's just little things like if we set out two cups of milk, Morgan will grab one and take it to her sister before grabbing her own. If Avery is crying, Morgan will go over to hug her or rub her back. I hope they always stay so close!
Avery is definitely a girly-girl. She loves baby dolls and pushing them around in strollers and putting them to "ni-night". She loves all things artsy - coloring, painting, play-doh. She is very wary of new people and takes a while to warm up in new situations. She wants to do everything herself - putting her clothes on/taking them off/brushing her teeth/you name it! She is in an "asserting independence" stage - ha! And she can throw a tantrum - she is SO dramatic! At daycare, she is the "motherly" one. They tell me at nap-time she helps the teachers put all the other kids to bed before laying down for her nap. Surprisingly, Avery is a little daredevil and loves to be scared. One of her favorite games to play with Daddy is "chase". They chase each other through the house and while she's trying to catch up, he'll hide and jump out and scare her. She LOVES it!!! Immediately after being scared, she says "more chase". Just like Morgan is with Avery, Avery loves her sister and is so sweet with her. If Morgan is crying, Avery will run and get Morgan's favorite monkey to console her. I love watching the two of them together!
After a slow start, both girls are saying more words and are stringing words together in sentences. Avery has a larger vocabulary of understandable words. Morgan says a lot, but we're not always sure what she's saying. The bad thing is she'll say the same thing over and over and look at us like "why don't you understand me?". She chatters a lot and we keep saying that once she actually learns the right words, we won't be able to shut her up!
