To wrap up our long holiday weekend, we took the girls to a July 4th parade. We went to the Hinsdale parade because the Downers Grove one starts right at nap time and the girls would be way too cranky for that. The Hinsdale parade started at 10am, which worked out perfect for us. We found a great place to park and a nice little spot to sit and watch the parade.
The parade started off with all the fire trucks, ambulances, police cars... Morgan was not a fan of that. She hates noise! But, after that, she loved it. She got a flyer on a stick from some float and she waved that thing around at everyone during the parade! After the girls figured out how parades worked (i.e., you get lots of candy and fun stuff from the people in the parade), they had a blast! Avery really liked the marching bands and was pointing out the instruments (um, who knew she knew what all those instruments were?!?) Morgan covered her ears through some of the louder bands, the motorcycles and the guns being shot off.
We finished off the morning with lunch at a local place and the girls got to have Mickey Mouse pancakes. So much fun!
