Today, I decided to catch some rays on the 4th floor porch. I was out there about 3 hours and the parts of my body that normally don't see the sunlight got a little lobster red. I even put on sunscreen... guess I need like 50 spf. That's what sitting indoors for the majority of my days does to me. My body doesn't know what to do when actual sunlight hits it! : )
While I was doing that, Matt was out golfing and then he went for a few drinks. Now, he's snoring on the couch!
On a side note: I had a great video of him snoring. I waited 'til he woke up to make sure that he wouldn't mind me posting it... but he minded and used his veto power to make me delete it. : (

BBQ
On Friday, Erin and I hosted a bbq at her townhome. We bought TONS of food, beer, pop, etc... as usual. Everyone brought beer or snacks, too, so we had way too much. Lots of leftovers!
We played bags, ladder-golf (aka hillbilly golf), frisbee, that game with the ball that Erin took to the family reunion, euchre, Wii Bowling and Olympics... and Hany & I finished off the night with some fierce karaoke battles. Both of us ended the night a little hoarse. I'm sure the neighbors ended their nights with a headache! ; )
We could see quite a lot of fireworks displays from the 4th floor porch.
Here are a few pics from the day...
The alley worked out well for the bags and ladder golf games -
Michelle and Matt chillin' in the garage -

Minor mishap with the ball (it ended up on the neighbor's balcony)... luckily the woman who lived there was home and threw it back down to us -

Euchre game -

Hany & Grant hanging out on the top floor balcony -

Drew, Erin, Hany and Michelle F. chatting -

There was a slight problem with the grill (ran out of gas... apparently there was a leak or something?) - but it was quickly resolved after a quick trip to Home Depot
Matt (with a mouthful of cookie) & me -

Sushi + skillet cookies
Thursday night, Matt, Michelle and I went for sushi at Izumi (gotta get my strawberry maki fix). Afterwards, we walked to West End Bar to get skillet cookies for dessert. Those things are so deelish!
Andy had finished up with his bbq and met up with us back at Matt's place. They played Wii Olympics and Michelle helped me set up my new Facebook account. Matt's thrilled (that's sarcasm, folks!) that I have another reason to camp out on the computer at night. : )

Brownies
I'm working from home this morning and taking the afternoon off... I actually did get quite a bit done this morning, which surprised even me! Now, I'm taking this opportunity to get some laundry done and catch up on trashy daytime tv.
I just baked a batch of brownies for my bbq tomorrow. I hope they taste as good as they look! : )

I love long weekends!

The Interns
Last night, Matt & Erin H. had a BBQ for the interns. We started off at Erin's place with appetizers, then ended up at Matt's place for burgers and dogs.
We played Wii bowling, boxing, swimming, running and trampoline.
Matt got KO'd pretty quickly in boxing...
This picture cracked me up... looks like Matt is giving John a total stare-down, but I don't think that's really what was going on.

Some of the interns were determined to get the golf ball on the tee... I think they spent a couple of hours working on this thing. I think only one of them actually did it, though.
I saw a billboard for a Bud Light party cruise and wondered what it was all about. Bud Light is doing a 3 day/4 night party cruise to the Bahamas in late October; one of the stops is some private island where a famous band/artist is going to put on a concert for the 4600 people on the cruise.
You can register to win a spot on the cruise. And by "winning", I mean you get to buy a ticket to go on the cruise. So, you still have to pay (cost is $348 for a two person room, so $174 per person). I don't know many details about the cruise because the website is still pretty vague. Like... does that include food, all the BL you can drink??? It could be a really crappy deal... no clue.
But I thought I would register anyway. I never win anything, so it doesn't really matter. But, if anyone out there really likes Bud Light and wants to take a cheap party cruise with a bunch of drunks, you may want to sign up to "win", too. : )

Four Shadows
Matt had a $75 gift certficate for winning the euchre league at Four Shadows and it expired on Monday, so we went... can't let those winnings go to waste. Matt and I had dinner and a few pitchers of beer and were worried that we were going to fall short of the gift certificate, but Fubar and Tony showed up and helped us out. The specials were 25 cent wings, $2.50 Long Islands and $8 pitchers of Lite... so the $75 went a long way.
We got hooked on the Erotic Photo Hunt game. Fubar is really good at this game. He barely took a break, even when eating wings. Since his fingers were all messy, he would just yell out where the differences were. We almost overtook first place status, but just missed it. Maybe next time.
